Director of Customer Services for the New
Orleans Public Service, Inc., died on Tuesday
morning, November 1, 2005 at the age of 71.
He was born in Hazelhurst, MS and lived most
of his life in New Orleans, LA. Son of the late
Harvey D. Hawkins and Ruth Kyle Hawkins.
Served in the U. S. Navy Seabees during the
Korean War and received a Masters Degree
from Loyola University. Husband of Beverly
Leaumont Hawkins. Brother of Charles Harris

80. Beloved mother and mother-in-law of

Charles Edward Little, Sr. died peacefully in
his sleep on Tuesday, November 2, 2005. Mr.
Little was born in New Orleans, LA on
December 9, 1935 and was a resident of
Arabi, LA for the past 38 years. He retired
from the Federal Marshall Service in 1998
where he served as C.S.O. He was a
graduate of F.T. Nicholls High School.
Charlie loved his wife of 49 years, Carolyn
Perrodin Little and his children ‘‘Chuck’’ (wife
Gwen Bourgeois), Donna Schultz (husband
Bryan), Laurie Labruzzzo (partner Patti
Fischer) and Christy Little. He adored his
grandchildren, Brandi Labruzzo Evans
(husband Glenn), Lindsey Bush, Brittni
Labruzzo, Trey Little, BJ Schultz, April Little;
and one great- grandchild, Kallista Evans.
Charlie was the son of the late Rose Catalano
and Uriel Little. He is survived by his sister,
Sylvia Costanza; brother, Uriel Little; and his
many nieces and nephews. Charlie loved to
entertain his family and friends. He will be
deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Donald B. McLaren, a retired Chevron
geologist, died Friday, October 28, 2005 in
Plano TX. He was 76. Mr. McLaren was born
and raised in Brookline, Massachusetts and
lived in Covington, LA for the past 34 years.
Survivors include his brother, Alan McLaren;
sons, Russell McLaren and Andrew McLaren;
daughter-in-law, Jeannie McLaren; and
grandchildren, Collin and Claire.

Gloria Petit, Marian Savoie, the late George
Wilson Jr. and Earl Cantrelle. A native of Des
Allemands, LA and a resident of Lafayette,
LA. Age 88 years. She was an educator in the
St. Charles Parish School System where she
taught at Paradis Elementary for 27 years.
She was a parishioner of St. Leo the Great

of the Rosary Group.

Rev. Thomas Edward Kinney, a retired
Roman Catholic priest of the Archdiocese of
New Orleans, LA, passed away on Saturday,
September 3, 2005 in Baton Rouge, LA of
cancer after a long illness. He was 59 years
old and a native of Corpus Christi, TX.
He is survived by his parents, Mr. and Mrs.
John Kinney of Corpus Christi; a sister and
two brothers: Mary Ann Todd and James
Kinney both of Corpus Christi and Dr. John P.
Kinney of West Palm Beach, FL.
Fr. Kinney studied for the priesthood at St.
Joseph Seminary, St. Benedict, LA and Notre
Dame Seminary in New Orleans. He was
ordained a priest of the Archdiocese of New
Orleans on May 21, 1977. He served in
several parishes of the Archdiocese during his
28 years of priesthood including St. Angela
Merici, St. Catherine of Siena and St. Francis
Xavier in Metairie, Our Lady of the Rosary and
St. Matthias in New Orleans, St. Cletus in
Gretna and St. Bernard in St. Bernard Parish.
He received a degree in Canon Law from St.
Paul University in Ottawa, Canada and served
for many years as a judge on the Matrimonial
Tribunal of the Archdiocese. He was a
Lieutenant Colonel in the Air National Guard
and a veteran of the First Gulf War in 1991.
A Funeral Mass was celebrated by
Archbishop Alfred Hughes at Our Lady of
Mercy Church, Baton Rouge, LA on Tuesday,
September 6, 2005 and his body was brought
by family members for interment to Seaside
Memorial Park Mausoleum in Corpus Christi,
TX.
A Memorial Mass will be celebrated by
Archbishop Alfred Hughes on Saturday,
November 5, 2005 at 4:00 p.m. at St. Francis

Edward Howard Sheehan, Jr., age 75 of Gulf
Shores, AL passed away at his home on
November 1, 2005. Mr. Sheehan graduated
from Louisiana State University receiving a
Bachelors degree in History. He was also a
United States Army veteran serving during the
Korean War. He is survived by his wife of over
21 years, Patsy Sheehan of Gulf Shores, AL,
two daughters, Margaret Sheehan Fredj of
New Orleans, LA. and Rebecca Sheehan
McCullen of Carencro, La., one sister, Evelyn
Sheehan Tersavish of Hartford, CO., one
brother, Raymond Sheehan of New Orleans,
La., and 3 grandchildren.

Irene H. Shelby died Friday, October 28, 2005
at LSU Medical Center in Shreveport, La. She
was 90, a native of Napoleonville and a
resident of New Orleans, La.
Visiting at St. John Baptist Church in
Napoleonville, La. from 10:00 a.m. to religious
services beginning at 12:00 noon conducted
by Rev. Louis Clark. Burial in the church
cemetery. Survived by 2 daughters, Shirley
Shelby and Bobbie Perkins of New Orleans,
La. Also survived by 7 grandchildren, a host of
great-grandchildren, 1 sister, Bertha Dolliole,
1 niece, other relatives and friends. Preceded
in death by her husband, Peter Shelby;
parents, Walter and Bertha Hunt; 5 sisters
and 2 brothers.

Ursula Casam Thompson, a retired Special
Education Teacher from the Jefferson Parish
School System, died Sunday, October 30,
2005 of natural causes. She was 83. She was
the best mother a family could ever have.
Mrs. Thompson was born in Belize City,
Belize. She lived in the Panama Canal Zone
for 31 years and lived in Algiers for 36 years.
She was valedictorian of St. Catherine’s
Academy in Belize City, Belize. She was also
valedictorian and Thatcher Award winner of
Canal Zone College. She graduated Summa
Cum Laude with a B.A. in Spanish Education
and a Master’s degree in Special Education
from Louisiana State University. She was a
member of the Kappa Delta Pi Honor Society.
She was a Eucharistic Minister and Minister of
the Word at Mary Joseph Residence for the
Elderly as well as at St. Andrew the Apostle
Catholic Church. She was also a member of
the choir at Mary Joseph Residence. Mrs.
Thompson was an Officer of the West
Jefferson Genealogical Society and a member
of the Belize Society.
She was preceded in death by her husband,
Robert Louis Thompson; her daughter, Aggie
Jane Thompson; her father, Macario Casam;
and by her mother, Ruth Menzies Leber.
Survivors include seven sons: Robert Louis
Thompson of Clermont, Florida; George
Albert Thompson of Miami, FL; Fr. John
Arthur Thompson, a Salesian priest of Sierra
Leone, Africa; Charles Anthony Thompson of
Covington, LA; Paul Joseph Thompson of
Meraux, LA; Edward Mark Thompson of
Oklahoma City, Oklahoma; Michael Ray
Thompson of New Iberia, LA; and five
daughters: Ruth Laura Raison of Lucasville,
Ohio; Mary Helen Thompson of New Orleans,
LA; Florence Isabel Lee of Kenner, LA; Edna
Jean Metcalf of Algiers, LA; Margaret Ann
Ruckstuhl of Falcon, Colorado. Survivors also
include one sister-in-law, Helen Nelson of
Chicago, Illinois; 24 grandchildren; and 17
great-grandchildren.
The Funeral Service will be held on Saturday,
November 5, 2005. Visitation will be from
10:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. with the Funeral Mass
to follow at St. Andrew the Apostle Church,

Gravesite Service will be held at Westlawn

SIMMONS
Arthur Frederick Simmons, Jr. died at his
beloved Xavier University in the aftermath of
Hurricane Katrina where he and his beloved
Eloise Blandin Simmons had sought refuge
during the storm. He was the beloved
husband of Eloise Blandin Simmons. The son
of the late Arthur Frederick Simmons, Sr. and
Odaile Fernandez Simmons. Brother of the
late Edward Simmons, Lillian Simmons
Tureaud, Myrtle Simmons Jeanne and Ursule
Simmons Stewart. Brother-in-law of Marilyn
Blandin Lopez, Jacquelyn Blandin Gueringer,
Albert Blandin, the late Veronica Blandin, Alice
Simmons, Lester, Harmond and Irving
Blandin. Also survived by a host of nieces,
nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
He was a retired letter carrier and clerk with
the United States Postal Service. He was
active in many religious and civic
organizations. He was an Associate of the
Sisters of the Blessed Sacrament, a fourth
degree Knight of Peter Claver, a member of
the New Orleans Sierra Club and the Xavier
University Alumni. He was a member of the
Oblate Guild of the St. Louis Cathedral, which
required attendance at the many projects and
gatherings there. As a volunteer, Arthur was a
much sought after guide for the St. Louis
Cathedral. Whenever bishops were visiting,
the pastor of the cathedral would ask Arthur
to accompany them on tours. Through the
twenty years that he served, pastors
regarded him as an invaluable aide and long
after their assignments, they kept in touch
with him. He was a Boy Scout leader and was
involved in service organizations too
numerous to mention here. In recognition of
his outstanding charity, the Archdiocese of
New Orleans awarded Arthur the Saint Louis
Medallion, the ceremony was held in St. Louis
Cathedral with the archbishop and many
clergy and dignitaries present.

Dorothy Williams Titus passed away
peacefully on Saturday, October 15, 2005.
Mrs. Titus had been living in Arcadia,
Louisiana as a result of Hurricane Katrina at
the time of her death at the age of 87. A
resident of Metairie for the past 60 years,
Mrs. Titus was born in the city of New
Orleans. As a homemaker, Mrs. Titus was an
active member of Saint Francis Xavier Church
since 1940. In addition, she was a lifetime
member of the Southern Yacht Club and
active in the Metairie Women’s Club and the
New Orleans Camellia Club.
Mrs. Titus was preceded in death by her
parents, Mary McNamara Williams and Irwin
F. Williams, Sr., her husband - Lloyd J. Titus
and two children; Robert W. Titus and
Dorothy Titus Blackwood. Survivors include
her youngest daughter - Corinne M. Titus and
grandchildren: Cameron M. Scrafin, Chelsea
M. Broekstra, Richard L. Blackwood, Darcy T.
Blackwood, and great grandson - Richard L.

An Irish Wake and Catholic Service will be
held on Saturday, November 5, 2005 from
4:00 - 7:00pm at the deceased home. A
private Graveside Service for immediate
family will be held on Tuesday, November 8,

Anthony E. ‘‘Tony’’ Walsh, III passed away on
Tuesday, November 1, 2005 at the age of 26
of natural causes. He is survived by his
parents Anthony E., Jr. and Kerry K. Walsh,
sister, Erin Walsh, grandmothers, Evelyn
Kennair, and Jane Walsh, 6 aunts and 7
uncles. Also survived by niece, Lauren
Dorsey. Tony is preceded in death by his
grandfather, George Kennair, who passed
away in February. He will be sadly missed by
his friends and family.
