Regards, Col Spirituality News Our Year Six/Seven Students will be commissioned as our new school leaders tomorrow at our whole school Liturgy of the Word with Children. This will commence at 9am in the Church and we invite you to share in this special celebration with us. We encourage our new student leaders to embrace the motto of Our Lady of the Rosary by being leaders who serve this community with love, an open sharing heart, caring compassion and enthusiasm. We urge these children to fulfil their potential to be leaders in the true Gospel tradition and in so doing adopt the legacy of St Mary MacKillop of the Cross and to ….”never see a need without doing something about it.” My advice for 2014 to the 6/7 Leaders: “Share the good work God has begun in you” Welcome Liturgy 2014 Students of the Week Millie Gallacher A community contributor who is off to a wonderful start in her new country, school and class! From the Guidance Counsellor Are your expectations harmful or healthy? As parents, it’s often a balancing act in determining what to expect from our children. If our expectations are too high this can cause children to become anxious or just give up. If our expectations are too low our children may become complacent and not perform to the best of their actual ability. This week’s article by Michael Grose explores the impact of parent expectations on children. Enjoy! All Scholastic Book Club sales will continue to contribute to the library resources for your children. Parent Reading Library Available Just a reminder for all parents new and old to the school, that the library has a parent reading library. It contains literature on several different topics such as – parenting skills, helping your child with reading, and family dynamics etc. You are welcome to drop in, browse through the titles, and even borrow the books for home time. Parents Helpers Needed It seems that there are never enough hours in the school day, and so that’s why the library needs your help. You can come in any time that suits you, for as long as you like. Your main tasks could be sorting books, tidying shelves and returning books. If you are interested, visit the library to let us know. We would just love another smiling face, around the place.
