David said Monday in a prepared statement.
David, 36, in February announced he would
not seek his party’s nomination, saying he
was concerned delayed tax payments he
made for one of his businesses would be a
distraction during the race. A review of
Broome County records showed David failed
to pay a total of $12,459 in income and sales
taxes, leading to three separate tax liens
filed in 2012, which he has since settled.
He owns several local businesses and
properties in Binghamton, including the 60

the downtown bar connected to the unpaid
sales taxes. He said Monday he plans to sell
Flashbacks, though he would not disclose
details of the sale. David noted his plan is to
maintain ownership of the building and sell the bar to focus on the
mayoral campaign, along with his other real estate holdings.

absence from BCC on May 24.
Current Mayor Matthew T. Ryan, a Democrat, cannot run again
because of term limits. City Council President Teri Rennia, D-3rd
District, is running for mayor on the Democratic ticket.
Rennia reacted to David’s announcement by saying, “I wish him all
the luck, and I look forward to a race based on the issues.” She
also added that her primary goal is running a clean campaign that
