hairpieces for individuals suffering from hair loss due to any medical

If unsure, ask your stylist. We are not able
to accept bleached hair due a to chemical reaction that occurs during
the manufacturing process.

shaving your head, first divide hair into multiple ponytails to cut off.
• We cannot accept dreadlocks.
• Layered hair is acceptable if the longest layer is 10 inches and
may be divided into multiple ponytails.
• Curly hair may be pulled straight to measure the minimum

National Night Out is an annual event intended to bring communities across America together to take a stand against crime, drugs and disorder in
their neighborhoods.
Join the City of Norwalk, Department of Public Safety and Norwalk Sheriff’s Station at this year’s Summer Concert Series featuring Poncho Sanchez on Wednesday,
August 6, on the City Hall Lawn, 12700 Norwalk Blvd., as we join members of the community in affirming our conviction against crime and disorder. National
Night Out takes places between 7:00 p.m. and 9:00 p.m.
If you are unable to participate with us, you can participate at home and in your neighborhood. During the designated time, turn your porch light on and take
a walk around your block; meet at least two neighbors that you have not met before – it’s the perfect opportunity.
You can also make a commitment to get involved in the Neighborhood Watch program. This year-round program brings you, your neighbors, Department of
Public Safety and Norwalk Sheriff’s Station together to help ensure safe neighborhoods and a safe community!

FREE Lunch for Children this Summer!
June 23 - August 8
12:30-1:30 p.m.
Join us for lunch in the park! The City of Norwalk Recreation and Park Services Department, in conjunction
with the County of Los Angeles, will offer a nutritious meal for children 18 years and younger. The Summer
Lunch Program is sponsored through the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The goal of the program is to ensure
that children receive at least one nutritious and balanced meal per day when school is not in session. Adults

The Recreation Department offers a ten-week Summer Day Camp for children ages 6-12. The camp provides a wide variety of activities
planned for youth including swimming, games, arts and crafts, and a weekly field trip. Excursions take place on Wednesdays unless otherwise
noted. Registration will be held on Saturday, May 31, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m. at the Norwalk Arts & Sports Complex, 13000 Clarkdale
Avenue. Additional registration hours will take place during the Norwalk Arts & Sports Complex operating hours:
Monday through Thursday 8:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m., Friday 8:00 a.m.-8:00 p.m., and Saturday 9:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m.
Day Camp Deposit Procedures: To hold your spot for multiple sessions, Norwalk residents must make one full
session payment with a minimum deposit of $50 per week/per child for each additional session. Non-residents
must make one full session payment with a minimum deposit of $75 per week/per child for each additional
session. The remaining balance for deposits is due two weeks prior to the start of the Day Camp session. No
refunds will be given if you decide to cancel. No exceptions. In order to be eligible for resident rates, at the time
of registration, parents must provide proof of residency (i.e., a bill, drivers license, tax information). Parents must
also verify their child’s age (i.e., birth certificate, medical records, or school registration). Please Note: Extended hours (7:00-8:00 a.m. and 5:00-6:00 p.m.) are
available for a nominal fee. Parents must enroll for the extended hours program at the time of their registration. For more information, please call 929-5521.

The Museum is currently
registered on the National
Registry of Historical Places and,
at one time, held up to 200 acres
of grapes, prune, avocado, and
citrus trees. Built in 1891, the D.D. Johnston-Hargitt House Museum is a
two-story Eastlake Victorian farmhouse that was owned by Darius David
Johnston. He was one of Norwalk’s leading pioneers as well as the organizer
of the Norwalk School District. He served on the school board from the late
1880’s until his death in 1917. The Museum contains D.D. Johnston-Hargitt
family heirlooms and other memorabilia as well as glimpses into Norwalk’s
past. The Museum is brought to life through docent-led tours given by the
Friends of Hargitt House. Admission is free; however, donations are always
welcome. Please Note: The Museum may be closed in inclement weather.

Recreational swimmers of all ages are invited to cool off and have fun at the Aquatic Pavilion. For your safety, children eight years and younger or
under 48 inches tall must be accompanied by an adult 18 years and over (one adult per child is required).
Bathing suits are required. No cutoffs or shorts below the knees are allowed. Exposed undergarments are prohibited.
Men: proper swim attire consists of elastic or drawstring trunks, no
pockets, zippers, or buttons.
Women: proper swim attire consists of one or two-piece swimsuit
as defined by the Aquatic Pavilion staff. Body suits are not allowed.
Swim diapers must be worn by all children three years and younger and are available for purchase at the Aquatic Pavilion Ticket Window.

Norwalk Stingrays Youth Swim Team (Ages 6-18)

The Norwalk Stingrays is a novice swim team
designed to teach and encourage young people
to participate in water sports on a competitive
yet fun basis. Team members will learn the
basic competitive skills and train to compete
in swim meets against other area swim teams
throughout the summer. The team is divided into different levels for practice. Group
assignment is based on the swimmers’ maturity level, commitment to training,
experience and participation in swim meets. Parental support is essential to the
program’s success. Children should be able to swim front crawl 50 yards continuously
and have a basic knowledge of the competitive strokes at time of registration. The
monthly fee is due at the beginning of each month. To try out for the Swim Team

The Futsal/Indoor Soccer League is scheduled to begin the
week of July 27.
Friday Night: Men’s “Recreation” Division
Futsal/Indoor Soccer is played between two teams of five
players each, one of whom is the goalkeeper. Unlimited
substitutions are permitted. Unlike some other
forms of indoor soccer, the game is played on
a hard court surface enclosed by lines; walls or
boards are not used. Futsal/Indoor soccer is also
played with a smaller ball with
less bounce. The surface, ball
and rules create an emphasis on
improvisation, creativity, and technique as well as ball
control and passing in small spaces.

Facility Reservations
To reserve, view a room, or obtain a
rental application, please call 9295566 or visit the Norwalk Arts & Sports
Complex located at 13000 Clarkdale
Avenue. Rental information is also
available at www.norwalkca.gov.
Payment of Fees: Half of the security
deposit is due when an application is
approved. Room reservations must be
made at least 30 days in advance and
rental fees must be paid in full 30 days
prior to the reservation date.
Set-up Fees: Applicant may decorate/
set up one to three hours in advance on
the day of the reservation at a rate of
$48.90 per hour.
Security Fee: If applicant is serving
alcohol at an event, in addition to the
reservation total, an hourly fee of $35
will apply for each Public Safety Officer
in attendance. If it is determined that

This program is designed for children, teens, and adults with developmental, physical, and/or learning disabilities. Participants are encouraged to maximize
their abilities through recreation activities with a social emphasis. All participants must have a current medical/emergency form on file with the department

You are invited to join the Norwalk All-City Youth Band. This program is comprised of the
band, a drill team, and a tall flag unit. Joining the Band is a great way to get involved.
This group fundraises, goes on trips, conducts concerts, and performs in parades and City

Young Jedi will explore worlds far, far away and
engineering principles right in front of them.
Defeat the Empire by designing and refining LEGO®
X-Wings, R2-units, and settlements on far-flung
edges of the galaxy. Imagination and engineering
combine to create motorized and architectural
projects such as energy catapults, shield generators
and defense turrets.
