Breakout with HTM on June 30 – NATIONAL HIV TESTING DAY
The Healing Touch Ministry is coordinating its first Breakout Sunday, on June 30 in
observance of National HIV Testing Day (June 27) and the Balm in Gilead’s “Our Faith Lights
the Way!” campaign. In the AIDS community, Breakout Sunday is where every eligible church
member, including the Pastor, is invited to get tested for HIV. You could say that churches “breakout”
of their normal routine to get tested and to become better educated about HIV/AIDS!
Starting at 11:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Sunday, June 30 in the Snodgrass-Cleaver Fellowship
Hall at First Missionary Baptist Church, you will have an opportunity to get a free HIV test by
staff from the AIDS Action Coalition. And while you’re waiting for your test results, enjoy
some refreshments and view a movie or educational information about HIV/AIDS.

BUS TO NATIONAL BAPTIST CONVENTION IN CHARLOTTE, NC
FMBC plans to lease a bus for individuals wanting to attend the NBC Annual Session in Charlotte NC.
The Annual Session will be held during September 2 thru 6, 2013. The cost of riding the bus will
depend on the number of people going. A block of rooms will be reserved for those wanting hotel
accommodations. The hotel and bus cost will be provided as information becomes available. This
initial information is provided for you to plan vacation or time off from work. Please contact Leonard

SPOT A STROKE F.A.S.T. It could save a life, possibly yours. Last year, many of the
795,000 Americans who suffered a stroke did not get the right lifesaving treatment in time. But you
can help save lives and improve recovery by thinking F.A.S.T. These simple letters can help you
recognize the signs of a stroke and get help right away.
F:-Face Drooping-Does one side of the face droop or is it numb?
Ask the person to smile.
A:-Arm Weakness-Is one arm weak or numb? Ask the person to raise both arms.
Does one arm drift downward?
S:-Speech Difficulty-Is speech slurred? Are they unable to speak, or are they hard to understand? Ask the
person to repeat a simple sentence, like "The sky is blue." Is the sentence repeated correctly?
T:-Time to call 9-1-1-If the person shows any of these symptoms, even if the symptoms go away, call 9-1-1
and get them to the hospital immediately.
Beyond F.A.S.T. - Other Symptoms you should know - Sudden numbness or weakness of the leg, sudden
confusion or trouble understanding, sudden trouble seeing in one or both eyes, sudden trouble walking,
dizziness, loss of balance or loss of coordination and/or sudden severe headache with no known cause.

CHUCKLE FOR TODAY: The CIA had an opening for an assassin. After all of the background checks,
interviews, and testing were done, there were three finalists, two men and a woman. For the final test,
the CIA agents took one of the men to a large metal door and handed him a gun. "We must know that you
will follow your instructions, no matter what the circumstances. Inside this room, you will find your wife
sitting in a chair. Kill her!" The man said, "You can't be serious. I could never shoot my wife." The agent
said, "Then you're not the right man for this job."

The second man was given the same instructions. He took the gun and went into the room. All was quiet
for about five minutes. Then the man came out with tears in his eyes. "I tried, but I can't kill my wife."
The agent said, "You don't have what it takes. Take your wife and go home."
Finally, it was the woman's turn. She was given the same instructions, to kill her husband. She took the
gun and went into the room. Shots were heard, one shot after another.
They heard screaming, crashing, and banging on the walls. After a few minutes, all was quiet. The door
opened slowly and there stood the woman. She wiped the sweat from her brow and said, "You guys didn't
tell me the gun was loaded with blanks. I had to beat him to death with the chair~"
