• Administer anesthesia or deep sedation to infant, child and
adolescent patients during surgical and diagnostic procedures
• Anesthesia services provided in 14 full service operating rooms (including two for cardiac surgery), four additional procedure rooms
in the surgical areas, two cardiac catheterization suites, three MRI
rooms, two CT suites and one interventional radiology suite
• Pediatric anesthesia is precision anesthesiology with an array of
equipment unavailable in the usual adult hospital situation
• Includes ventilator needs, fluid replacement needs and temperature control
• Faculty and staff are available for consultation 24 hours a day
• Pediatric Pain Medicine Program provides comprehensive, interdisciplinary treatment for infants, children and adolescents with acute
and chronic pain conditions
• Inpatient pain service treats acute pain secondary to surgery,
trauma, burns, dressing changes, painful procedures and chronic
medical conditions
• Treatments include patient controlled analgesia, epidural infusions
and other methods of analgesic delivery
• Some recurrent pain conditions such as cancer and sickle cell, may
be managed on an outpatient basis
• Behavioral and psychological interventions are implemented when
appropriate in conjunction with pharmacologic treatments

• ACH owns and operates four ground ambulances and two twin
engine, instrument flight capable helicopters. A medicallyequipped fixed-wing aircraft is also utilized through our preferred
providers for long distance or back up aircraft.
• When referring physicians contact the Angel One
Communications Center, they are connected with the appropriate
ICU attending physician and other specialty physicians for
transportation or consultation needs
• Medical staff consists of highly trained transport registered
nurses, respiratory therapists who are competent in pediatric,
neonatal, burn and high risk obstetrical (HROB) critical care
transport. A third-year pediatric resident joins our pediatric
transfers
• Partners with the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences
(UAMS) to transport high-risk obstetrical patients (HROB)
• Offers outreach education to referring hospitals including
STABLE, NRP and general stabilization of neonatal and
pediatric patients
• CAMTS (Commission on Accreditation of Medical Transport
Systems) accredited program since 1997.

The closest airport is Little Rock National Airport, which is approximately
six miles from Arkansas Children’s Hospital. If you rent a car, ask the
rental agency how to get to I-440 West (which is near the airport). On
I-440 West, continue for approximately one mile until you reach I-30 East/
Downtown. Continue on I-30 East to I-630/Downtown. Take I-630 West
for approximately two miles to Exit 2B Martin Luther King Jr. Drive) and
follow the signs to ACH (approximately four blocks from where you turn
off I-630). ACH is almost directly across from the State Capitol, which you
can see on the right-hand side of I-630.

From I-40 Westbound, take I-30 West to I-630. Take I-630 West for about

PARKING
Follow the crayons to find the main patient and visitor parking areas on
the ACH campus:
• The GREEN lot is across the street from the front
entrance.
• The BLUE lot is just in front of the Sturgis building
and the PURPLE lot is across the street (Children’s
Way) from the blue lot.
• Patient and visitor parking is also available at the
main entrance to the ACH campus (at Martin Luther
King Jr. Drive and Maryland Avenue) and in the
Ronald McDonald House parking lot. These lots are
available 24 hours a day.
• The Shuttle Lot at 12th Street and Children’s Way
is open from 6 a.m. until 10 p.m., Monday through
Friday, for visitors to the South Campus (Brandon
Center).
• EMERGENCY ROOM parking is available in the
new Emergency Room parking lot which can be
accessed from 10th St. This lot is for Emergency
Room parking only.
