Member Reciprocal Admission Programs Your Museum of Science and Industry membership allows you to take advantage of two (2) separate programs that offer free or preferred rate admissions at over 200 museums, primarily in North America. The Local Reciprocity Program grants 50 percent off admissions at museums primarily in Chicago. This program is open to all levels of MSI members. The ASTC Travel Passport Program grants free or discounted general admission to MSI bachelor, masters and doctorate level members when you travel 90 miles or more from Chicago. Guidelines for using the reciprocal admissions programs: In order to maximize your experience, call the museum you plan to visit before you go to confirm that reciprocal admission benefits or discounts are still in effect. It is required that you take your MSI membership card with you in order to verify your identity and the active status of your membership. If you do not take your MSI membership card with you, we will not be able to verify your membership by telephone, and you will be required to pay full price admissions. Local Reciprocity Program Museums in the Local Reciprocity Program offer MSI members a 50 percent discount off of general admission. It does not include free admission to special exhibits, planetarium and larger-screen theater presentations. Nor does it include museum store discounts and other benefits associated with museum membership unless stated otherwise. Each museum has its own admissions policy. Visit www.astc.org to find out which and how many family members receive free admission. Program Restrictions 1) Based on your science center’s or museum’s location: Science centers/museums located within 90 miles of each other are excluded from the Travel Passport Program unless that exclusion is lifted by mutual agreement. 2) Based on residence: To receive Travel Passport Program benefits, you must live more than 90 miles away from the center/museum you wish to visit. Admissions staff reserve the right to request proof of residence for benefits to apply. Science centers and museums requesting proof of residence are marked by (•IDs). Call before you visit to verify admission policies and participation in the program. Museums can cancel their participation at any time. ‡ Due to contractual arrangements, institutions marked with this symbol can offer reciprocal admission only to those whose MSI membership expires on or before October 31, 2012.
