Temperaments and Instructional Style: Learn the nine temperamental traits children
may have that influence interactions with peers and adults. Identify how to match
your instructional style to the temperament of the children in your classroom. (All

Dear Early Childhood Educator,
The conference committee has designed a variety of interesting,
Informative training sessions. This year’s theme is “Supporting
Children’s Capabilities”. The goal of the conference is to provide highly
specialized trainings to meet the particular needs in your classroom.
Participants may go to the sessions of their choice throughout the
day. Sessions will be listed as either:
I. Preschool Age
II. All Ages
III. Spanish Sessions
Please find enclosed all the information you will need to register for
the conference. Due to the popularity of the conference, it is
important to register early. Registration is on a first come-first served
basis, but is also limited to 3 participants per center or home.

The Essential Role of Documentation: Gain the skills and knowledge for gathering
evidence in the classroom to reflect on and assess children’s learning. Make children’s
learning and the life of the program visible to families and the community through
written learning stories and documentation displays. (All Ages)
Play Isn’t Just Fun: When we are playing we are not just having fun! Play is essential
for our physical, cognitive, language, and social/emotional development. In this session
the benefits and importance of play for children and adults will be discussed.
(Preschool Age)
Engaging in "Math Talk": Effective Interaction Strategies for Improving Math
Learning: Research has indicated that the amount of preschool teachers' “math talk" in
the classroom is related to young children's mathematical knowledge. In this session,
information will be provided on what constitutes "math talk" and math competencies
that can be addressed through these effective interactions. In addition, learn practical
strategies for increasing math talk in the classroom.

Como Trabajamos con los Niños Pequeños: Esta presentación proveerá formas
alternativas de cómo trabajar con los niños basándose en su potencial y no en las
deficiencias. Se estudiarán formas de observar y como desarrollar la habilidad de
captar los detalles necesarios para responder y apoyar a los niños a tener una
autoestima fuerte y saludable.
Entendiendo los Diferentes Roles de las Maestras de Educación Infantil: Los muchos
roles que las maestras juegan en la vida de los niños pequeños son muy complejos, con
la responsabilidad de ser un aprendiz junto o al lado de los niños. Esta presentación
interactiva está diseñada para inspirar a que se convierta en una observadora y una
investigadora de niños.
Como Crear Medios Ambientes Físicos e Intelectuales Bellos para los Niños
Pequeños: Esta presentación proveerá formas alternativas de cómo trabajar con los
niños basándose en su potencial y no en las deficiencias. Se estudiarán formas de
observar y como desarrollar la habilidad de captar los detalles necesarios para
responder y apoyar a los niños a tener una autoestima fuerte y saludable.
El Rol esencial de la Documentación: Los participantes podrán adquirir las habilidades
y conocimiento para la obtención de pruebas en el salón para reflexionar y asesorar el
aprendizaje de los niños. Hacer el aprendizaje de los niños y la vida del programa
visibles a las familias y a la comunidad por medio de historias de aprendizaje en escrito
y tableros de documentación.

Reflecting on Your View of Children:: Let’s explore our perception of children so we
can better meet their needs. Join lively discussions and experiences to learn techniques to develop keen observation skills. The techniques will increase your ability to
see and respond to children from their strengths and capability to reach their full
potential. (All Ages)

Building Your Bounce: As adults, we want to be happy and to succeed in life. But
where do we start when life is coming at us? This training will give individuals the
opportunity to discover four key elements to help build their resilience, the ability to,
”bounce back”. Discover strategies to guide you in recovering from misfortune or
change and the ability to move on in a positive way. (All Ages)
You Don’t Say!: Communicating feelings and desires in classroom settings is a critical
skill for children to learn, and language is the key. This session will focus on teaching
children to use language as they learn to self-regulate. (Preschool Age)
10:15 a.m.—11:45 a.m.
Understanding the Many Roles of Early Childhood Teachers: The roles teachers play
in the lives of children is very complex. The first and foremost responsibility is to be a
learner alongside the side of children. This interactive workshop is designed to
inspire participants to become observers and researchers of children. (All Ages)
Building Your Bounce: As adults, we want to be happy and to succeed in life. But
where do we start when life is coming at us? This training will give individuals the
opportunity to discover four key elements to help build their resilience, the ability to,
“bounce back”. Discover strategies to guide you in recovering from misfortune or
change and the ability to move on in a positive way. (All Ages)
Helping Children Manage "Their Moments": We all have our moments... and
children do as well. As teachers we can support children as they learn how to
process and manage a range of emotions. We can teach children techniques to help
them manage and express their feelings and then allow them opportunities to
practice and develop these skills. We will explore the meaning of emotional regulation and discuss strategies to help children manage strong emotions and their feelings in a constructive manner. (Preschool Age)
12:15 p.m.—1:45 p.m.
Creating Beautiful and Engaging Environments for Young Children: Learn how to
design beautiful and varied environments that support the development of learning,
relationships, and self-expression. We will explore the concept of the environment as
the third teacher. In addition, we will connect environment to the creation of settings
as careful invitation where children can independently pursue their own lines of inquiry and develop self-regulation. (All Ages)
Where the Wild Things Are: Are you going in and out of your day with the Wild
Things? As a teacher we need to help children develop self-regulation skills. Come
learn fun ways to teach social skills using books and games. Leave with a list of titles
that help children deal with social and emotional behaviors and the acceptance of


The paper registration form is ONLY for providers with no email
addresses.

$20 registration starts Monday, June 24th through Sunday, July 7th.
Once we are full we will close registration.

Participants may to go to the sessions of their choice throughout the
day. Due to limited seating please check on the registration form if you
plan on attending Spanish sessions.

Space is limited. Please plan to register early. Mail-in registration
forms must be postmarked by June 21st. Mail-in registrations that
arrive after the conference is full will be refunded. Mail-in
registrations are not guaranteed due to space limitations.

Registration fee is non-refundable and non-transferable unless the
conference is full or cancelled.

Participants will receive confirmation by mail or email. If you do not
receive a confirmation, you are not registered for the event.
