Description of Facility The center is in a strip mall shopping plaza on Greenfield Road south of the Lodge Freeway in Detroit. Approved space (room numbers, sizes, capacity and ages of children for which each room/well-defined space is approved, etc.): The infant (freshmen) room measures 14’x21’ for a total of 294 square feet. This room can accommodate no more than five children, age birth to 1 year, based on 50 square feet per child. The toddler room measures 30’X17’ for a total of 510 square feet. This room can accommodate no more than 10 toddlers, age1 year to 2 years, based on 50 square feet per child. The sophomore (blue) room measures 14’x 20’ for a total of 280 square feet. This room can accommodate no more than six children, age 2 to 2 ½ years, based on 50 square feet per child. The junior (red) room measures 14’x20’ for a total of 280 square feet. This room can accommodate no more than eight children, age 2 ½ to 3 ½ years, based on 35 square feet per child. The senior (yellow) room measures 14’x18’ for a total of 252 square feet. This room can accommodate no more than seven children, age 3 ½ to 5 years, based on 35 square feet per child. The young fives and latchkey area measures 19’ x16’ for a total of 304 square feet. This room can accommodate no more than nine children, age 5 to 12 years, based on 35 square feet per child. 2 The second latchkey area measures 19’x16’ for a total of 304 square feet. This room can accommodate no more than nine children, age 5 to12 years, based on 35 square feet per child. The total requested and approved capacity is 54 children at any one time, age birth to 12 years. Equipment: The center has an adequate supply of age appropriate play and learning equipment. The equipment is adequate for the ages of the children served and the center’s capacity. Number of sinks and toilets: The boys’ restroom contains two toilets, one urinal, and three sinks. The girls’ restroom contains three toilets and three sinks. There is one hand-washing sink in the infant area, the infant/young toddler room, and the toddler room. There is an additional bathroom that contains one toilet and one sink. Restrooms are sufficient to accommodate the capacity of 54 children, age birth to 12 years. Outdoor play area: There is a fenced play are behind the center. It is half grass and half cement and there are no water hazards. It measures 30’x90’ for a total of 2,700 square feet. Documentation if a lead assessment was required and the results: The building was constructed in 2005 and does not require a lead assessment. Documentation of playground safety: There are no play structures in the outdoor area at this time. The licensee understands that a playground inspection will be required if a structure is installed, prior to use. B. Program Description Ages of children served: The center provides care for children birth-12 years old. Proposed days and hours of operation: The center operates year round, Monday – Friday, 5:00am to 7:00 pm. 3 Full or part time: The center offers full time programming. Other program components: The center will provide transportation and food service. There is no swimming component. Name of program director and under what rule the program director is qualified. Ms. Yolanda Parson is the approved program director under rule R 400.5103(3) (c) and (4). Ms. Parson’s has an Associate’s Degree in Early Child hood Education from Ferris State University. She has completed 18 semester hours in early childhood education including 3 semester hours in child care administration. She has completed at least 480 hours working with young children.
