Darin Archbold
Norwell
Four-year letterwinner and all-time leader in points and rebounds at Norwell. 1,811
points (19.5 career ppg) and 854 rebounds (9.2 rpg), 3rd in school history with 284 assists (3.1
apg). Set single-season scoring record with 748 points his senior year, including a high game of
45. Averaged 26.4 points and 11.2 rebounds his senior year. Four-year letterwinner and threeyear starter at Butler University. Led team in scoring for three consecutive years, totaling 1,744
career points (4th in school history). Led NCAA and set Butler record with 91.2 FT% in 1990-91.
Two-time MCC all-conference selection, two-time team MVP, 1991 MCC Conference Player of
the Year. Set school single-season records in scoring (770), free throws made (189), and FT %
and career record for 3pt FG% (45.7%). Scored 30+ points 10 times in college career. Named to
Butler’s 1990s all-decade team, all-century team and all-sesquicentennial team and inducted into
Butler Athletics HOF in 2008. Is employed as a financial advisor in Fort Wayne, has three
children.
Hunter Atkins
Highland
Set school record with 1,494 career points, 537 rebounds and 273 assists. A four-year
starter and three-year team MVP, set school single-game scoring record with 50 points versus
Lake Central in December 1987. Averaged 27 points, 8 rebounds, 6 assists as a senior and was
named Lake Suburban Conference Player of the Year, Hammond Times Player of the Year, Gary
Post Tribune Player of the Year and WJOB Player of the Year. Three-years all-conference,
three-years all-area, McDonalds All-American nominee and one of five Converse All-Americans
from Indiana. Played two-years at University of Mississippi, then two years at Loyola (Chicago)
where he scored 556 points (10.3 ppg), playing in 54 games and serving as team captain his
senior year. Set Loyola record with 8 three-pointers in one game and had 17 points and 7 assists
in an upset win over Purdue. Married with two children, he works in the wireless phone industry
and lives in St. John, Indiana.
Woody Austin
Richmond
1988 Mr. Basketball. Richmond’s all-time leading scorer with 1,990 points. Was state’s
leading scorer his senior year, scoring 932 points (33.2ppg) – which ranks as the state’s 8th
highest single-season total in history. He broke the school’s single-game scoring record five
times in his career, scored double figures in 72 straight games and scored 44 or more points five
times his senior year. A member of four sectional champions, three regional champions, two
semi-state champions and 1985 and 1987 state runners-up. Scored 1,076 points in 93 games at
Purdue University, named 1st team all-conference and team MVP while averaging 18.5 points his
senior year. Ranks fourth in Purdue history in three-point field goal percentage (43.9%), 13th in
three-point field goals (119) and 39th in scoring. He is married and has three children, lives in
Carmel.
Scott Blum
Oregon-Davis
1988 Indiana All-Star. Set school record with 1,591 career points. Oregon-Davis teams
were 44-5 his final two seasons, including 23-2 sectional champions his senior year. Averaged
20.4 points, 5.7 rebounds, 52% FG and 84% FT his senior year. Named to South Bend Sunburst
All-Star team. Played two seasons at Valparaiso University and two seasons at Grace College.
Named 1992 and ’93 1st team NAIA All-American, member of ’92 mens National Championship
team and was named 1993 Pete Maravich Award winner as NCCAA National Player of the Year.
Played professionally in Portugal. Head mens basketball coach at Indiana Wesleyan University,
Trinity International University, Lakewood Park Christian H.S. and currently head womens
coach at Grace College since 2004. Last year’s team recorded best record in program history (20
wins). Married with three children, he lives in Warsaw.
Paris Bryant
Jeffersonville
Scored 1,273 points, graduating as Jeffersonville’s 2nd all-time leading scorer.
Averaged 10 points as a sophomore, 19.7 ppg as junior and 25.0 as a senior. Teams were 49-23,
winning two sectionals and finishing as regional finalists his junior and senior seasons. Was
named Junior College 1st team All-American at Walker J.C., WAC all-newcomer team averaging
14 points per game at the University of Wyoming, then ended his college career as an NAIA AllAmerican averaging 19.3 points and 6 assists at Athens State College. Played 15 years in Europe
in Austria, Italy, Greece, Germany, Spain and Portugal. Now a volunteer at the Jeffersonville
Boys & Girls Club, he has one daughter and lives in Jeffersonville.
Eric Dolezal
LaPorte
1988 Indiana All-Star. Totalled 1,261 career points and school record 573 rebounds over
three-year career, averaged 24.3 points and 9.1 rebounds his senior season. Team was 21-4
sectional champion his senior year, as he was named News Dispatch and Herald Argus Player of
the Year, all-conference, sectional MVP, all-regional and all-state. Set school record for single
game FG%, 13-13 vs. South Central in 1987. Played one season at University of Nebraska and
three seasons at Loyola (Chicago), where he started 74 of 85 games and scored 1,046 points
(12.3 ppg). Was named to MCC All-Star team that toured Europe and was team’s 2nd leading
scorer behind Brian Grant (Xavier), later named to Loyola’s 1990’s all-decade team. Is owner
and co-founder of Captive Insurance Consulting Company. Has three children and lives in Long
Beach, Indiana.
Greg Gary
Anderson Highland
A four-year varsity starter, finished career with 1,213 points. Team finished 18-3,
Olympic Conference champions and ranked #8 in state his senior year, was named Madison
County Player of the Year and AP 3rd team all-state. Averaged 18.2 points, 10 assists and 3.4
rebounds in one year at Aquinas College and named Region 8 MVP. A three-year starter at point
guard for Tulane University, graduating as school’s all-time leader in assists. Member of
school’s 1st Metro Conference championship and 1st NCAA Tournament berth in 1992.
Graduated with 5th best career FT% in school history (82.2%). Has been an assistant coach at
Tulane, McNeese State, University of Miami, South Florida and Duquesne, head coach at
Centenary College, and since 2011 is an assistant coach at Purdue University. Married with four
children, he lives in Lafayette.
Brian Good
Rossville
Set 12 school records in high school, including career points (1,738), scoring average
(21.7 ppg), and assists (457), and single-season 3pt % (47.2%). Was team leader in points and
assists all four-years of high school and averaged 28.8 points, 6.2 assists and 6.0 rebounds as a
senior and was named Academic All-State. Played basketball at the University of Wisconsin,
where he was the Big Ten’s FT% leader in 1989-90 season. Involved in college coaching, he has
worked as an assistant at Edgewood College, University of South Dakota and head coach at
Milwaukee School of Engineering, Queens University of Charlotte and since 2008 has been head
coach of Division I Wingate University, where his team’s record has improved each year with an
overall record of 66-52 and 40-28 in conference. He is married with two children and lives in
Indianland, South Carolina.
Brian Hogan
Kokomo
1988 Indiana All-Star, Kokomo’s first since 1962. Averaged 14.4 points, 3.0 rebounds,
47% FG, 87% FT for 24-3 regional champion Wildkats. Scored 10 points in Indiana’s 102-82
all-star win at Kentucky. Four-year letterwinner at the University of Florida, playing in 122
games. Led Gators one season in 3pt FG made and two seasons in 3pt FG%, hitting 120 career
three-pointers and totaling 489 career points (4.0 ppg). A team captain, he received Fred Koss
Award for leadership in 1992. Participated with Athletes in Action in New Zealand in 1992.
Married with four children, he is a trial attorney in Orlando, Florida.
Travis Inman
Avon
Averaged 27.6 points (9th in state), 10.7 rebounds, 52.7% FG and 89.3% FT his senior
season as Avon finished 15-6, winning Mid-State conference championship and Hendricks
County tournament championship. Set school record with 1,132 career points and single-game
record with 53 points vs. Park Tudor. Three times all-county, twice all-conference and once allmetro selection. A four-year letterwinner at Indiana State University, where he scored 1,081
points, was Missouri Valley Conference all-conference and selected to ISU’s all-decade team for
the 1990s. Was inducted into Avon H.S. HOF in 2000. An account rep for Tabco business
forms since 1992, he is also pastor at Bedford First Church of Christ since 2007. Married with
two children, he lives in Bedford.
Shawn Kemp
Concord
1988 Indiana All-Star. Named AP, UPI, Indianapolis News and Bloomington Herald
Telephone all-state and 1988 McDonald’s All-American. Scored 2,134 careeer points – a school
record and 9th best in Indiana high school history when he graduated (now 23rd). Still holds
single-season (649) and single-game (47) Concord scoring records as well. Teams were 85-19,
winners of three Northern Lakes Conference championships (25-3), three sectionals, two
regionals and 28-1 1988 state runners-up. Averaged team highs of 24.0 points and 16.5
rebounds per game in Indiana’s two wins over Kentucky All-Stars, including 31 points and 21
rebounds on 13-16 shooting in game in Indianapolis. 17th overall selection in 1989 NBA Draft,
played in 1,051 games in 14 seasons with Seattle, Cleveland, Portland and Orlando. NBA career
totals of 15,347 points (14.6 ppg), 8,834 rebounds (8.4 rpg), 1,704 assists and 1,279 blocks. Was
voted NBA All-Star six consecutive seasons (1993-98) and three times 2nd team All-NBA.
Member of 1994 U.S. gold medal World Championships team. Lives in Seattle and owns a
restaurant.
Matt Nover
Chesterton
1988 Indiana All-Star. Averaged 17.5 points, 10.3 rebounds, 56% FG and 81% FT his
senior year, named UPI all-state and Bloomington Herald Telephone all-state. Scored 978 career
points at Indiana University – 42nd on school’s all-time list. Holds IU career FG% record
(57.1%), single-season FG% record (62.8%), and single-game FG % record (8-8, 100%). Was a
member of Big Ten champion team, 1992 Final Four team and was co-captain his senior year.
Played professional basketball overseas from 1993-2004 in Italy, Spain, Portugal, Japan and
Australia. Since 2007 employed in the medical services field, currently with Cook Medical.
Married with one child, he lives in Brentwood, Missouri.
Craig Riley
FW Harding
1988 Indiana All-Star. 1,107 career points, 565 rebounds. Averaged 25.2 points, 11.2
rebounds, 56% FG his senior year and 17.2 points, 8.5 rebounds, 63% FG his junior year. Twotime SAC all-conference, 1988 21 Alive Basketball Player of the Year, Tip Off Club all-state,
participant in Derby Festival Classic All-Star game, nominated for McDonald’s All-American
and was his high school valedictorian. Four-year career at Purdue, starting 39 of 103 career
games. 606 career points and 267 rebounds. Started 27 of 33 games his senior year, when he
averaged 11.0 points and 4.0 rebounds. Three time Academic All-Big Ten, honorable mention
all-conference, 1992 Academic All-American, recipient of Red Mackey Award, Big Ten Gold
Medal of Honor, Ward Lambert Scholastic Excellence Award and Purdue Distinguished ScholarAthlete Award. Had tryout with World Champion Chicago Bulls and played part in movie “Blue
Chips” before career as structural engineer. Has done work in Puerto Rico, Guam, Libya, Egypt
and United Arab Emirates, but says favorite projects have been athletic facilities at Arlington,
Ben Davis, Brebeuf, North Central and Warren Central high schools. Single, he lives in Fishers.
David Scott
Graceland Christian
1988 Indiana All-Star. Four-year starter, set school records with 1,825 career points and
777 rebounds, as well as games played (83) and single-game scoring record (scored 43 points
three times). Teams had 63-22 record over four-years, as he held career averages of 21.7 points,
9.3 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 60% FG. Averaged 27.0 points, 11.4 rebounds 4.3 assists, 64% FG
and 75% FT his senior year. Three times 1st team all-conference, once conference MVP and
teams won three conference titles. Three times all-sectional, twice sectional MVP, three times
1st team all-area, twice all-area MVP, 1st team all-state by Louisville Courier Journal his senior
year, AP 3rd team all-state senior year. Named three-time NACA All-American and NACA allstar his senior year. Earned 12 varsity letters in basketball, soccer, baseball and track. Four-year
letterwinner at Miami (OH), appearing in 114 games and scoring 1,410 points (12.4 career ppg).
133-332 career 3pt FG (40.1%) and 79.2% career FT. Twice MAC 1st team all-conference,
currently 11th on school’s career scoring list. Played professional basketball from 1993-2005 in
Argentina, Spain, Portugal, Dominican Republic, Chili, Canada and Australia. Since 2005 has
been teacher and coach, currently in the Silver Creek district. Married with four children, he
lives in Sellersburg.
Chandler Thompson
Muncie Central
1988 Indiana All-Star. 1,060 career points, named AP, UPI, Indianapolis News and
Bloomington Herald Telephone all-state his senior year, averaging 23.0 points, 10.0 rebounds,
56% FG and 73% FT for 28-1 state champions. Twice 1st team all-conference (NCC), allcounty, all-sectional, and all-state; named all-regional and all-semi-state his senior year. Threeyear letterwinner at Ball State totaling 1,219 career points (17th in school history) and 534
rebounds (16th in school history). A member of 1990 MAC conference champions, he was a
two-time MAC Player of the Week, twice honorable mention all-conference and 1991 1st team
all-conference. Played in Spain, Italy and Russia from 1992-2005, winning numerous
championships and individual honors. Has been inducted into Ball State HOF and Delaware
County Sports HOF. Since 2006 has been an assistant coach at Lawrence North High School.
He has four children and lives in Indianapolis.
Derwin Webb
Lawrence North
1988 Indiana All-Star. Member of 19-5 LN squad his senior season, 14-10 sectional
champions his junior year. Averaged 15.0 points, 9.8 rebounds, 52% FG and 61% FT his senior
year. Was 1988 all-state, 1987 all-state honorable mention, all-county, two times all-metro, allconference and twice all-sectional. Totaled 22 points in Indiana’s two wins over Kentucky in the
All-Star series. Played at the University of Louisville over five years, twice winning the Coaches
Award, twice named Most Inspirational Player and named Scholar Athlete of the Year his senior
season. He has three children and is an attorney-at-law at Webb Law Offices, he lives in
Louisville, Kentucky.
Henry Williams Jr.
Ben Davis
1988 Indiana All-Star. Broke Randy Wittman’s school record with 1,218 career points, a
career average of 16.0 ppg, and had career totals of 420 rebounds, 141 steals and career 80.3
FT%. Still ranks in Ben Davis’ Top 10 in career games played, points (2nd), rebounds, steals, FG
made, FT made, FT% and scoring average. Averaged 21.0 points, 7.0 rebounds, 55% FG and
81% FT his senior year. Earned all-county, all-city and all-state honors, as well as all-sectional,
all-regional and honorable mention All-American. Started 110 of 118 games at UNC-Charlotte
and scored 2,383 career points, still the school record. Remains in the top 10 in 12 major career
statistical categories including scoring average, FG made, FT made, FT%, 3pt FG made, 3pt %,
assists, steals, games played, games started and minutes played. 44th overall pick in 1992 NBA
Draft to San Antonio Spurs, played professionally in Europe from 1992-2003. From 2003-2008
radio and TV analyst for Charlotte Bobcats, from 2004-present senior pastor at New Zion
Missionary Church in Charlotte. Married with three children, lives in Cornelius, North Carolina.
Sean Woods
Cathedral
1988 Indiana All-Star. Three-time all-city selection, twice all-state, capped high school
career with 18-4 record his senior season while averaging 18.0 points, 5.2 rebounds, 51% FG and
69% FT. 3rd leading scorer for Indiana All-Stars, totaling 25 points in two wins over Kentucky.
A three-year letterwinner at the University of Kentucky, he was a member of the school’s
“Unforgettables” – he scored 21 points in one of NCAA Tournament’s most memorable games,
1992 East Regional vs. Duke. He hit the shot immediately before Christian Laettner’s buzzer
beater. In 91 career games, he recorded 794 points, 227 rebounds, 482 assists and 144 steals. He
led the team in assists all three seasons, his 5.3 assists per game career average is still UK’s alltime best and his 1.6 steals per game career average is 4th best in program history. His #11 jersey
is retired at Kentucky and he is an inductee in their Athletic Hall of Fame. He has served as
assistant coach at High Point, Texas A&M Corpus Christi and TCU and was head coach at
Mississippi Valley State from 2008-12 and is beginning his first season as head coach at
Morehead State University. He is married, has two children and resides in Morehead, Kentucky.
