The ideal Low Global Warming Potential refrigerant for motor vehicle air conditioning
SolsticeTM HFO 1234yf has been developed at Buffalo Research Laboratory by Honeywell
Fluorochemicals with the aim of replacing R134a in motor vehicle air conditioning.
Its thermodynamic characteristics make HFO 1234yf very similar to R134a in performance, energetic efficiency and working pressures.
By using HFO 1234yf automobile manufacturers have been able to adapt easily systems
working with R 134a, and achieve similar performance, sometimes even better.
Even compared to carbon dioxide - CO2, HFO 1234yf boasts a better energetic efficiency
and a lower contribution to the total greenhouse effect (Direct Effect – Indirect Effect).
Its limited Direct Greenhouse Effect ( GWP
= 4 Kg/CO2 ) makes HFO 1234yf the best
possible solution from an environmental
point of view.
With its energetic efficiency, HFO 1234yf
is the best solution for motor vehicle air
conditioning.

Kryon 134a
The reference refrigerant for motor vehicle air conditioning
Kryon 134a is one of the main product replacing HCFC gases and is the non-ozone depleting
and non polluting option. The product has an energetic efficiency and a refrigeration capacity
similar to R12, but with a lower toxicity.
Kryon 134a is a reference refrigerant for motor vehicle air conditioning. It can be used in home
and commercial refrigeration as well as in commercial and industrial air conditioning.
Kryon 134a is one of the most common components in refrigerants on the market.
Applications
Kryon 134a is used in all motor vehicle
air conditioning systems.
Kryon 134a has been developed for
many applications in refrigeration, as for
example supermarket display cabinets,
cold rooms and domestic refrigerators.
The product can be used in packaged
centrifugal chillers.

MAXI Cylinders
Rechargeable Cylinders: an eco-friendly and “low cost” solution
MAXI Cylinders are helpful every time a limited quantity of refrigerant charge is needed. These
cylinders are light and easy to handle compared to the traditional ones. Therefore their transportation is easier. Our MAXI Cylinders are available in 13,6 Litres size. They are manufactured
in compliance with T-PED ( Transportable Pressure Equipment Directive ) and are packed in
high-strength cardboard boxes in order to make the transport and the storage easier.
MAXI Cylinders are provided with a special quick coupler automatic valve that prevents leaks
that usually occur with plug valves.
General Gas has always been sensitive to environmental issues. With the “F-Gas-Friend”, General Gas has implemented the F-Gas Directive by buying back the rechargeable MAXI Cylinders, so that the cylinders are not disposed of in the environment. So cylinders are regenerated
and filled again.
Applications
MAXI Cylinders are used every time
a limited refrigerant charge is needed.
They are widely used in workshops and
spare parts dealers.
MAXI Cylinders are packed in highstrength cardboard boxes provided with
a special hole that allows you to connect
the hose to the cylinder, without having
to remove the cylinder from its box. Even
in upside down position, it is possible to
mount the hose in such a way that it is
easy to open the valve when taking the
liquid gas phase.

MINI Cylinders
Cylinders with a small amount of refrigerant charge
In the field of automotive, the use of cylinders with a small capacity is very useful when refilling
connecting pipes or conditioners. The advantage consists in marketing a cylinder that has a low
market value, and therefore it is easier to sell it. Our MINI Cylinders are available 1 Litre size
( pack of12) and in 2,5 Litre size (pack of 6). MINI Cylinders are made of low carbon steel
with a maximum working pressure equal to 48 bar.
MINI Cylinders are filled by General Gas with the use of a patented system called “High Purity
System”. With this method it is possible to achieve a quality standard as required by the major
air conditioning and refrigerating system manufacturers. This technology allows you to obtain a
gas humidity below the maximum limit (equal to 10 ppm).
Therefore this type of cylinder (containing 800 gr. – 2 Kg) is the most suitable one to meet the
needs of thermohydraulic market.

to DOT 39 specifications. Each cylinder is packed in high-strength cardboard box in order to make
the transport and the storage easier. Non-Refillable Cylinders are filled by General Gas with the

Chemical Products
Air conditioning system and refrigerating system maintenance implies the
solution of a series of problems requiring the use of chemical products.
These products have been developed in such a way so as to solve any
problem and to guarantee success of treatments needed.
Principal problems are:
^^ Cleaning and disinfection of evaporators
^^ Cleaning of Condenser
^^ Treatment of heat transfer surface
^^ Leakage detection.
Each problem needed a careful analysis of the chemical processes
concerned. A special attention has been paid to the prevention of corrosion
process that easily occurs because of the equipment made of differ
metals jointed together (aluminium, copper, carbon steel) working in very
oxygenated and humid places. These are the typical conditions where
a corrosion process takes place. Corrosion processes, if not properly
treated, can lead to total oxidation of the material (for example aluminium
fins of heat exchangers) or corrosion inside the tubes (for example copper
and iron tubes of the heat exchangers, evaporators, condensers, etc.).
Our chemical know-how allows us to face and solve any problems
excellently.

Inhibited Ethylene Glycols and Inhibited Polypropylene Glycols
Glycols are secondary heat transfer fluids and are used in refrigeration systems in order to
reduce the amount of refrigerant.
Glycols are used when keeping the system containing the refrigerants away from public areas
is absolutely necessary for safety reasons.
Glycols contain specific corrosion inhibitors that avoid the corrosion of metal parts of systems.
