The Kanawha City Council met in regular
open session Tuesday, November 11th, 2014.
Councilpersons present: Ray Bassett, Judy
VanderPloeg, Sherrie Johnson and Christa
Hanson. Absent: Nancy Litch.
Mayor Johnson called the meeting to order at
6:00 p.m.
Councilperson Bassett moved approval of
the agenda. The motion was seconded. All
were in favor. Motion carried.

The motion was seconded. All were in favor.
Motion carried
Brad Leckrone discussed the Shield computer program, which is a software records management program for the police department.
The cost of the program is approximately $2000
and the hardware set up would be less than
$1000. Councilperson Bassett made a motion
to purchase the program and hire Next Generation Technologies to do the set up. The motion
was seconded. All were in favor. Motion carried.
Councilperson Bassett moved approval of
the addendum to the Waste Management garbage and recycling contract. The addendum
would allow for larger recycling containers.
Because the City agreed to extend the current
contract for an additional 36 months, there will
be no change in cost for the new recycling containers. The motion was seconded. All were in
favor. Motion carried.
Councilperson Bassett moved to approve the
appointment of Tom Gretillat to the Board of
Adjustment. The motion was seconded. Those
voting Aye were: Bassett, Hanson, Johnson.
Voting Nay: VanderPloeg
Councilperson Bassett moved approval of
purchasing a laptop and software, with a spending cap of $800, to be used for internet reporting
and water and wastewater reports.
With there being no further business, a motion to adjourn was made, seconded and carried.

and Treasurer of the above stated Fair, being
duly sworn on oath depose and say the said
Association/Society, being duly incorporated
under the laws of the State Of Iowa held a Fair
known as the Hancock County District Fair on
these days of July 22-28, 2014, in or near the
city of Britt, IA, and said Fair consists of a true
exhibition of livestock, together with agricultural
products and farm implements as contemplated
by law (either Section 174.1 or 174.10).

is a statement of the actual amount paid in cash
premiums by the Association/Society for the

The Annual Meeting of the Hancock County Agricultural Society will be Monday, Dec.1,
2014, at 7:00 p.m. at the Hancock Co. Extension Office, 327 West 8th Street, Garner, IA
50438.
A financial report for the year ending August
31, 2014 will be given. the election of directors,
discussion of 2014 fair, suggestions for 2015
fair, and other business pertinent to the operation of the District will be considered.
All eligible voters of Hancock County and
members of the society are invited to attend the
Agricultural Society Annual Meeting.

SNOW ORDINANCE IN
EFFECT IN CITY OF CORWITH
The following regulations for snow emergency and snow removal are now in effect:
No person shall park, abandon or leave unattended any vehicle on any public street, alley,
or city-owned off street parking area during the
period of the time when snow is falling and for
a period of forty-eight (48) hours after cessation
of snowfall unless the snow has been removed
and plowed from said street, alley or parking
area and the snow has ceased to fall.
It shall be the responsibility of the abutting
property owners to remove snow, ice and accumulations promptly from sidewalks. If a property
owner does not remove snow, ice or accumulations with a reasonable time, the City may do
so and assess the costs against the property
owner for collection in the same manner as a
property tax.

BOARD OF SUPERVISORS
November 3, 2014
Garner, Iowa
The Hancock County, Iowa, Board of Supervisors met in adjourned session on the above
captioned date pursuant to adjournment with
Supervisors Florence (Sis) Thomas-Greiman,
Ted D. Hall and Jerry J. Tlach present. Absent:
none.
The minutes of the October 27, 2014 meeting
were read and approved.
On motion by Supervisor Hall, seconded by
Supervisor Tlach and carried, the Board authorized the County Auditor to issue checks for the
claims on file this date, November 3, 2014. A full
listing of all claims paid in November, 2014 will
be published in the November 17, 2014 minutes.
No further business to come before the
Board, motion made to adjourn at 9:30 a.m. by
Supervisor Tlach and carried. All Supervisors
present voting, “Aye,” session to adjourn and
will meet again on November 10, 2014.
