2014 GIVING TREE
Once again this year, the Social Justice
Committee is sponsoring a Giving Tree in the
Narthex to support over ten area organizations at
Christmas time. Our tree holds ornaments that
display pictures of the many items that have been
requested by these organizations. Instead of
taking one of the ornaments, as in years past, we
ask that you take a sheet with a list of suggested
items located right next to the Giving Tree. Please
place your gifts under the tree by December 21.
Thank you,

Are you interested in inviting God further and
deeper into your marriage through Natural
Family Planning? We are interested in starting
a Natural Family Planning (NFP) group that
would meet, discuss, and encourage one
another, once to twice a month. NFP is a way
of following God’s plan for achieving and/or
avoiding pregnancy, but it is so much more, as
NFP can help you to grow in respecting God,
your spouse, and your body. If interested,
please contact Erik Brown at 309-230-3360,

ADA 2014
Thank you to the seven parish families who made
contributions to ADA 2014 last week.
Their
contributions, which matched their pledges, bring
our pledges total to $65,420 and our contributions
total to $57,894.
We are grateful for these
contributions/pledges and for all of the other
contributions and pledges which have been made
since we began the ADA 2014 process. We still,
however, have not reached our $65,883 pledge
goal, so we continue to invite parishioners who
have not yet made a contribution or pledge this
year to consider doing so….And please, remember
any contributions over our goal come back to us.
Thank you.

FACILITIES EXPANSION FUND - THANK YOU
WHAT IS THE NAMI Family?
On behalf of all of our parish members…and
others… who are benefitting from our expanded
facilities - hall, kitchen, offices, classrooms - I want to
say “thank you” for the many contributions which
enabled us to pay for our building project. We still
have a debt of slightly over $80,000, but, we owe it to
ourselves. We owe it to a Parish Bequest Fund
generated by several bequests over the past few
years. I want to announce that our Finance Council
and I have decided to stop requesting additional
contributions to reduce our debt; instead, we will
simply acknowledge that the remaining money we
owe will have been taken from the Bequest Fund &
thus will not be repaid to that Fund.
I want to say a special word of thanks to the 10 to
12 parishioners who have continued to contribute
regularly to the Facilities Expansion Fund after our
Fund Drive ”officially” ended. Your on-going
commitment to our parish is most appreciated.
Mark your calendar for this Family to Family class
that will start Feb. 10 from 6-8:30pm. NAMI
Family-to- Family is a free, 12-session
education program for family members of
adults living with mental illness. The course is

while maintaining their own well-being. The course
includes information on illnesses such as
schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, major depression
and others. This NAMI Family-to-Family will be
taught by Robert O’Rourke and Cathie Stinson who
know what it is like to have a loved one with mental
illness. The course will be held here at St.
Malachy’s.
