Benefits for the Engineers
ƒ No change in daily-work condition
Updates
Latest Improvements
ƒ Regular Nastran/Abaqus FEModels can be used
(NVH & Durability Models)
ƒ Reading GD&T data from external software like 3DCS or
Excel based data for part pair
ƒ Design for S&R to study Design Feasibility
ƒ Can read in Six Sigma Results from 3DCS
ƒ Existing Extended Material Database
ƒ Contact force point estimation
ƒ Customization per customer requirements
ƒ Animation and Shell Expansion in Rattle
(in all three directions)
Benefits for the Management
ƒ Clipping points, for Point of Interest
ƒ Early detection of Squeak and Rattle points
before tooling is cut
ƒ Will help to address “JDPower” and warranty issues
by reducing the time needed for testing
*Note: Some of the improvements are currently
customer specific and are under development.
ƒ Manufacture for S&R – GD&T Module can be used
to control variations of assembly from supplier
Non-Linear Module
Functions (Linear)
ƒ The difference between Linear and Non-linear Module
being that Non-linear Module can read in Direct Time Domain
ƒ Currently Non-linear time input can be read and
post processed for Abaqus
ƒ Supports Nastran Linear and Abaqus Linear
frequency response solutions
ƒ Response and ranking is based on impact velocity only
ƒ SAR index are shown based on ranking
by curve or impact velocity
System Requirements
ƒ External factors like GD&T, temperature, surface index
can be included
ƒ CPU >= 2.0 GHz Intel based
ƒ Material matrix can also be calculated
which is internally normalized
ƒ Video card: nVidia (preferred) >= 128 MB
Prerequisites for SAR Model
ƒ Penetration free FE Model
ƒ Mechanics (hinge and other mechanisms) to be captured
ƒ Non Rigid FE Model
(clips & snaps not to be represented with rigids)
ƒ RAM >= 2 GB
ƒ Min. 5 GB of local hard disk space for scratch files
ƒ Windows XP Professional or
ƒ Windows Vista Home/Premium or
ƒ Commonly available LINUX distributions.
(Red Hat, Gentoo, CentOS etc.)
ƒ (Gentoo is preferred)
