1 From the Principal’s Desk… Grant Hegenauer Principal Byron High / Middle School November 19, 2014 Eagle eblast The purpose of this newsletter is to provide our parents and community with information about programs and events at the high school and middle school. If you have any questions, please email [email protected] It’s hard to believe we’re entering the holiday season, and I would like to wish a very happy Thanksgiving to all our Byron families and our great community. Thanksgiving is the time of year we all reflect on our many blessings. Although life is filled with many challenges, this is the time of year we are grateful for the kind people in our lives, who love and support us so that our students believe, achieve, and succeed. I am personally thankful for my family, my friends, my faith, and the fine folks (staff, students, and families) here at Byron Area Schools. This school is a blessing to all who work and attend. My wish for all during this holiday season--the best to each and every member of our school family. Have a safe holiday, and I look forward to seeing you all after the Thanksgiving holiday. Grant B. They have competed in 2 different essay competitions during the first 9 weeks of school. They wrote about their "Michigan" Hero for one competition sponsored by State Farm Insurance Company. The second essay competition was the VFW sponsored "Patriot's Pen" essay. This year’s prompt was "Why our veterans are important to me." The entire grade was eligible to compete. The top 10 “Michigan” Hero essays were submitted to State Farm Insurance Company. The top 20 essays were submitted to the "Patriot's Pen" competition sponsored by our local Durand VFW. Any winners will be announced as soon as the results are forwarded to me. We have a very talented group of writers who put forth a great deal of effort on these essays! Good work and good luck ! The workshops focused on networking, creativity, teamwork, ethics, diversity, defining differences, leadership in service, and enthusiasm. Officers listened to professional speakers and participated in hand-on activities as well as teamwork activities. This conference allows BPA officers and advisors to look at promotion of business in a new perspective.
