Important Visa Information
Everyone travelling to Turkmenistan needs a visa. This is a 2 stage process. Firstly you must obtain a visa
invitation letter which can take 4 weeks and then you need to obtain a visa stamped in your passport
which can take a further 7 working days. You cannot obtain a visa without a visa invitation letter.
APPLYING FOR VISA INVITATION LETTER
The organising committee is providing visa invitation letters for all registered congress participants. The
visa invitation letter and visa to Turkmenistan is free of charge.
Documents required:
1. Visa application form duly filled-in in WORD FORMAT by each person requiring a visa
2. Clear scanned COLOUR copy of the passport. Passport must be valid at least 6 (six) months prior to travel.
3. Scanned colour passport size photograph (3x4) on white background for each person requiring a visa.
4. Pakistan citizens required to provide a medical certificate against poliomyelitis (polio) in order to apply
for visa invitation letter
On receipt of your completed form and documents we will submit your application to the Turkmenistan
Authorities. Once your travel is approved by the Turkmenistan Authorities, we will contact you with further
instructions and email you the Visa Invitation Letter.
OBTAINING TURKMEN VISA
Your Passport must be valid until at least 3 months after your exit date from Turkmenistan and must have
at least one blank visa page.
Once you have your visa invitation letter you can then either:
• Visit your local Turkmenistan Embassy with a copy of your visa invitation letter to get a visa stamped in
your passport. This can take up to 7 working days.
• Obtain your visa on arrival. You can travel to Turkmenistan with your visa invitation letter and obtain a
visa on arrival at the airport.
*All Chinese citizens required to obtain their Turkmenistan Visa (stamp in the passport) in Beijing before they
travel to Turkmenistan. It takes up to 3 working days to obtain visa.

IMMIGRATION FEE
Upon arrival at the border every visitor will be required to pay an Immigration fee, currently 12 USD, for
each entry. Please make sure you have this amount in cash as there is no cash point or exchange office
available at the Immigration Desk.
REGISTRATION WITH OVIR SERVICE
IIf you stay in Turkmenistan for over 72 hours you must also register with the local authorities WITHIN 72
hours. Please note the date of the arrival and the weekends (Saturday and Sunday) do not count in the time
restriction of 72 hours for registration.
The Organising Committee will register only those delegates who applied for visa invitation letters through
Organising Committee (Ministry of Oil & Gas). The registration will be organized by Ministry of Oil & Gas
Industry and Mineral Resources of Turkmenistan and delegates are not required to provide any documents.
NB: If you do not register your passport & your stay is over 72 hours, you will experience problems when
trying to leave Turkmenistan.
