• Sime Darby Plantation is the plantation and agri-business arm of the Sime
Darby Group. The Division is involved in oil palm and rubber plantation
management, cultivation and downstream activities, as well as Research &
Development (R&D).
• Sime Darby Plantation is one of the world’s largest palm oil producers,
producing about 2.3 million tonnes or 4% of the world’s crude palm oil (CPO)
output annually. It is also the world’s largest producer of certified
sustainable and traceable palm oil and palm kernel oil with annual production
of 2.14 and 0.49 million tonnes respectively.
• Sime Darby Plantation is also the world’s largest producer of segregated certified
sustainable and traceable palm oil products and derivatives with an annual
capacity of 330,000 metric tonnes.

• Upstream Malaysia
Our Malaysian operation’s total CPO production is 100% certified by the
Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO).
• Upstream Indonesia
In Indonesia, Sime Darby Plantation is represented by its subsidiary PT
Minamas Gemilang (Minamas), which was set up in April 2001 and
headquartered in Jakarta. Our Indonesian operation’s total CPO production
is 86% certified by RSPO.
• Upstream Liberia
In 2009, Sime Darby through its subsidiary, Sime Darby Plantation, signed a
63-year concession agreement with the Government of Liberia for 220,000
hectares of land to be developed into oil palm and rubber plantations. A new
company, Sime Darby Plantation (Liberia) Inc., was set up to manage the oil
palm and rubber plantations.
DOWNSTREAM OPERATIONS
The Company’s Downstream activities are present in 15 countries namely
Malaysia, Singapore, Indonesia, Thailand, Vietnam, Japan, China, Germany,
United Kingdom, South Africa, Dubai, The Netherlands, the United States of
America, Brazil, South Korea and India where refining of CPO is undertaken for
production of edible oils and fats products, oleochemicals and biodiesel.

GLOBAL TRADING & MARKETING
The Global Trading & Marketing (GTM) team is responsible
for the sales and marketing of Sime Darby Plantation’s bulk
and packed products (palm based as well as other oils and
fats) from our refineries (food) to the global market. The
products offered range from bulk produce to bulk and
packed refined products and specialised refined products.
RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT (R&D)
With over 250 scientists and researchers, as well as more
than 600 supporting staff, Sime Darby Plantation’s R&D
Centres are geared to make countless breakthroughs and
innovations for the company and the industry in general.
The research work is divided into five areas:

PLANTATION SUSTAINABILITY & QUALITY
MANAGEMENT (PSQM)
As the world’s largest producer of certified sustainable palm
oil, Sime Darby Plantation plays a leading role in the
development and promotion of sustainable practices in the
palm oil sector. As one of the founding members of the
Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), the company
seeks to advance the production, procurement and use of
sustainable palm oil products.
