Sime Darby Motors is the automotive arm of Sime Darby Berhad and is involved in the
assembly, import, distribution and retail businesses. It has a presence in 10 countries
across the Asia Pacific region.
With over 40 years of experience, Sime Darby Motors is a major industry player in the
Asia-Pacific region. Sime Darby Motors currently represents 29 brands, ranging from
luxury brands (such as BMW, Porsche, McLaren and Rolls-Royce) to various mass
market brands like Ford, Peugeot and Hyundai, and trucking names like Hino and
Mack.
Other than the assembly, import, distribution and retail businesses, Sime Darby
Motors is also a long-term partner and representative of Hertz, the vehicle rental and
leasing franchise business in Malaysia and Singapore, as well as Corefleet, a specialist
in commercial vehicle rental and leasing in Australia.

Sime Darby Motors represents 27 different brands in various countries in the
Asia-Pacific region. Sime Darby Motors’ retail operations offer a wide range of
vehicles, from small compact to luxury cars as well as commercial vehicles.
Brands represented by Sime Darby Motors include BMW, MINI, Rolls-Royce, Peugeot,
Hyundai, Ford and Land Rover. Sime Darby Motors is focused on selling quality
products supported by excellent after-sales services.
Retail operations at Sime Darby Motors boasts cutting-edge technology and some of
the best facilities in the region.
DISTRIBUTION / IMPORT
ASSEMBLY
Sime Darby Motors distributes and imports, among others,
BMW, MINI, Rolls-Royce, Ford, Land Rover, Peugeot,
Hyundai, Porsche, Suzuki, and Mitsubishi passenger
vehicles in various markets in the Asia-Pacific region.
Sime Darby Motors’ first assembly plant was the Associated
Motor Industries (AMI) plant in Selangor, Malaysia in 1982.
It assembled BMW and Land Rover vehicles which were
transferred to the Inokom plant in 2008. Sime Darby Motors
began operating the Inokom assembly plant in Kedah,
Malaysia in 2004. Materials are sourced from respective
principals overseas as well as locally, which are then
assembled for sales mainly in the Malaysian Market.
INOKOM assembles various Hyundai passenger and
commercial vehicles as well as MINI, Ford and Mazda
vehicles.
Sime Darby Motors’ first distribution business began more
than 40 years ago through the distribution of vehicles in
Hong Kong. BMW is the number one luxury brand in
Singapore, Hong Kong and Macau (based on the 2012 Total
Industry Volume figures), and was the number one luxury
brand again in Hong Kong in 2013, where Sime Darby
Motors is its sole distributor. Sime Darby Motors made its
foray into the Australasia market in 1999 with the
acquisition of Continental Car Services in New Zealand.
Recent collaborations were formed with Porsche in
Malaysia; McLaren in Hong Kong, China and Malaysia;
Citroen in Hong Kong, Macau, Australia and New Zealand,
BMW and MINI in Vietnam, and KIA in Taiwan.
The plant has a current capacity of 28,600 units per annum.
INOKOM, which occupies 52.5%% of a 200-acre site, has
the potential to expand its production facility and is poised
to meet increasing demand from the Asia-Pacific region.
In the commercial vehicles sector, Sime Darby Motors
imports and distributes, among others, the Hino, UD Nissan,
Mitsubishi Fuso, Hyundai, and Mack brands.
Sime Darby Motors serves as a bridge between its principals
and customers through its extensive networks in the
markets it operates in.
