A Message from Our Priests 1 8 2 5 5 W E S T C A P I T O L D R I V E

OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST, KING OF THE UNIVERSE • NOVEMBER 23, 2014
As members of St. Dominic Catholic Parish, we commit ourselves
“To Seek Christ, Know Christ, and Become Christ,
Each One for the Sake of All.”
18255 WEST CAPITOL DRIVE • BROOKFIELD, WI 53045
A Message from Our Priests
As we gather for Mass this weekend,
we conclude the current Liturgical year
with the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus
Christ, King of the Universe. We hope
that your faith in Jesus Christ has
grown over this Liturgical year and
that our prayer together, at Masses, has
enriched your faith lives.
We wish to express our gratitude for
the Staff members and many
parishioners who serve in the
ministries that are part of our worship
life. Beautiful Masses that offer fitting
praise to God, and offer inspiration to
all who gather, only happen when there
is a spirit of generous participation on
the part of all.
Later this week, we will gather in our
Church and in our homes to celebrate
Thanksgiving 2014. What a wonderful
day to give thanks to God for our many
blessings!
In order to help us find an
opportunity to express our gratitude to
God in prayer, we will have a special
concelebrated Thanksgiving morning
Mass at 8:30 am. While this is not a
holy day of obligation, what greater
obligation do we have than to gather in
prayer to thank God for the blessings
we have?
We wish you God’s abundant
blessings as you gather with family and
loved ones for Thanksgiving meals and
an enjoyable holiday weekend.
United by our faith in Jesus Christ,
Father David H. Reith
Father Brad A. Krawczyk

during the preparation of the gifts.

Smiles For Miles
Dear Friends,
Smiles for Miles is in full swing. We will collect gifts now,
through Dec.10.
One of the important components of this project is to pray
for the children of St. Michael parish. Prayer is vital to the
success of Smiles for Miles. You will find a prayer in this
bulletin. You can place it in your Bible or on your refrigerator as a reminder to
pray for this project.
Thank you for your generosity in supporting this very important project!
May God bless you,

Funeral Wishes
If you are like many people, you may not have told your family about your
wishes for your funeral liturgy. Some of our parishioners are in the situation
where they live alone, having outlived their spouse. Others have children who
have joined other faith traditions, and may not understand the Catholic funeral
liturgy. We are happy to keep funeral wishes and desires on file at St. Dominic.
Would you like to do this? Please call the office in the Parish Center for details.

Mittens & Gloves Needed!
The Christmas Clearing Council of
Waukesha
County has
served this
community and
its children for
65 years. The
CCC helps
struggling
families, and
makes sure that children are not
forgotten during the Christmas
season. We need your help! With
another anticipated brutally cold
winter, we need to ensure that every
child has a warm, waterproof pair of
mittens or gloves. Throughout the
month of November, collection
barrels will be located in both
narthexes. Please be generous, and
pick up a couple of pairs of
waterproof mittens and gloves when
you’re out shopping. Hats are most
welcome as well.
Thank you in advance for warming
the hearts and hands of children in
Waukesha County!

What Is God’s Plan For You?
As humans, we are meant to live in community. As Catholics, we are meant to
join in the struggle to save the world. Our calling to use our charisms is not for
our own needs and preferences, but for others. As stewards, we need to spend
some time with God about our calling. What is God's plan for you? This prayer
should help you get started.
A prayer of silence, listening and patience
Oh, Lord, I offer you this moment of silence. This moment is for You.
I consent to Your action, in my
mind and in my heart, in my will
and in my soul,
I welcome Your action!
And to prepare myself, to make
room for You, I will sit here,
quietly, with my eyes closed,
In an attitude of peaceful rest and
loving devotion, my intent is to
welcome You.
I will slow down my thoughts
and my imagination. I will calm
down my fears and my emotions.
I will try to exercise patience and humility, and I offer you these feeble
efforts...
I lift up my soul to You, whispering in my heart and in my mind,
Here I am! I am quiet, but attentive to You.

Thanksgiving Meal Prayer
We come to this table, grateful for
the delicious meal we're about to
share, as well as the family and
friends who surround us here.
Let us pray: Heavenly Father,
we thank you for the love and
friendship that envelopes us today.
Help us to nurture one another
with your peace and serenity in the
midst of our busy lives.
We are thankful for all those who
helped prepare this meal.
We are mindful of people in our
community and in other regions, who
may not have enough to eat today.
May we appreciate all that you
provide for us now, and we look
forward to our heavenly banquet
with you.
We ask this through our Lord Jesus
Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns
with you, in the unity of the Holy
Spirit, one God, for ever and ever.
Amen.

We Give Thanks!
This past week, our school experienced a
visit from an accreditation team representing
the Archdiocese Office of Schools and the
Wisconsin Religious and Independent Schools
Association. Every school in the archdiocese
undergoes an accreditation visit every seven
years. Over the course of two days, the team
comprised of two associate superintendents,
two administrators and nine teachers, explored
every aspect of our school. The results of their
visit were highly favorable and constructive
feedback was received for how to continue to grow in humble excellence. On
behalf of the faculty and staff, I wish to thank the St. Dominic Parish community
for their constant support and dedication to the mission set forth before us, in
bringing children to Jesus Christ in word and deed, as we strive to provide God
centered, student focused instruction. Happy Thanksgiving!

Advent Vespers
Joyous Light of Heavenly Glory
Join us for a time of song, quiet prayer, and reflection during the
Advent Season as we sing Advent Vespers on Wednesdays in spiritual
preparation for the coming of our Lord. Spend time away from the
sometimes all too hectic planning for Christmas and follow the
Joyous Light of Heavenly Glory.
December 3, 10 and 17
7:00 pm
Prayer For The Children of St. Michael Parish
We recognize all life is a gift and a blessing.
We thank you for your most generous love.
Encourage us to be persons of honesty and integrity,
worthy of proclaiming the Gospel,
in this sacred act of helping the children of St. Michael parish.
Help us to always reverence the encounters
where we meet those we assist.
Give us openness to listen to the needs of those less fortunate.
Give us joyful spirits, and an eagerness to serve others.
Give us hopeful imagination and creative vision,
recognizing You in even the weakest amongst us.
Give us faithful hearts, deeply committed to Your people.
Let us feel Your Presence, and that of Your most Holy Mother,
so that we know we are never truly alone.
Remind us always that what we do for the least of
our brothers and sisters,
we do for you.
Grant these things through our Lord, Jesus Christ, Your Son,
Who lives and reigns with You and
the Holy Spirit, God, forever and ever.
Amen.
