SAN ANTONIO WOMEN
CHRISTMAS LUNCHEON
DECEMBER 8, 2014
Were you moved?
when you saw the recently released
photographs of Pope Francis embracing a young armless dancer?
1968 – our way of fostering a culture
of inclusion.
Since that time hundreds of thousands Brother Knights have volunteered to help make these special athletes know that they are welcomed
and important.
The Knights of Columbus has
pledged $1.4 million to cover the
costs of Special Olympics athletes
from the US and Canada during their
time in Los Angeles for the 2015
Special Olympic World Games.
Since 2001 the total amount donated
by the Knights at all levels to help
those with mental and physical disabilities has exceeded $243 million.
On that occasion the pope reminded
us that playing sports provides an
opportunity and an invitation to foster a culture of inclusion . . . a culture
that tends to draw-in those confronted with mental and physical challenges.
These are familiar words to members
of the Knights of Columbus, who
donate millions of volunteer hours
and dollars to the Special Olympics
since it’s founding in Chicago in
Building a culture of inclusion
requires the realization that the banquet of life is not reserved only for
the planned, the perfect or the privileged.
It’s time to take out the holiday
sweater because our Christmas
Luncheon is just around the corner.
Santa and Mrs. Claus will be coming
to make your wishes come true.
All San Antonio Women are invited
to attend our annual Christmas
Luncheon on December 8, 2014 at
11:30 am. Come and enjoy a lovely
lunch with friends & family at:
Yorba Linda Country Club
19400 Mountain View, Yorba Linda
The cost of the lunch will be $35.00
which includes a salad, entrée, dessert, and drink.
Please pick one of the entrée choices
available:
1. Roasted Turkey with Gravy &
Cranberry Sauce, Garlic Mashed
Potatoes, and Mixed Vegetables
2. Roasted Beef with Gravy, Garlic
Mashed Potatoes, and Vegetables
3. Penne Pasta Al Formaio served
with Pine Nuts & Sun-Dried Tomatoes in a Basil Cream Sauce
Pumpkin Pie with Whipped Cream
for dessert.
For reservations, please call Luci Mello
at (714) 602-8846 or Sally Ingerson at
(714) 283-4392. Bring your check to the
Parish Office, with your choice of entrée
written on the check, no later than
Wednesday December 3, 2014.
LET’S GIVE TO THE NEEDY AGAIN
Gift cards to Wal-Mart will be greatly
appreciated to help supplement our
Family Assistance Christmas Program.
Please bring them to this event and we
will make sure that Family Assistance
receives them from San Antonio Women. Thank you so much for you contributions.

“GOOD GRIEF! HERE COMES CHRISTMAS!”
CHRIST CATHEDRAL PASTORAL CENTER, ROOM 1AB
DECEMBER 3, 2014
For most people, the holidays are highly anticipated days of family celebration, reunion,
gift-giving and fun. Others dread the holidays or simply endure them. For them the holidays represent loss and loneliness. If you have recently lost a loved one or you have had
losses in the past that cause you to associate sorrow with the holiday, please join us for
a simple time of retreat and reflection. In addition to reflection, practical suggestions for
how to “be” during the holidays season will be offered. Treat yourself to a little TLC as
we move through this busy time. There is no cost for the retreat, and there is a choice of
two retreat times: 9:30 – 11:30 am or 7:00 – 9:00 pm. Facilitator: Kathy Schinhofen.
Register online or RSVP to Esther Ramirez by Monday, December 1 at
[email protected] or (714) 282-6001. Sponsored by the Office of Pastoral Care of the
Diocese of Orange
