Language Training
English language instruction for Permanent Residents and
Convention Refugees that are 18 years of age or older. Focus
on English language skills for daily communication,
employment. Preparation and practical information about life
in Canada. Daytime and evening classes available.
Free child care for students: Ages 19 months to 5 years old.
Monday to Friday: 9 am to 2:30 pm.
Levels offered: LINC 1 to 7. Transportation allowance may be
available. Learners must be assessed by the LINC
Assessment Centre prior to registration.

Enhanced Language Training (ELT)
Employment Support Services
Job Search Workshops (JSW)
Specifically designed for recent immigrants looking for work.
Assistance with developing resumes and cover letters, skills
identification, job search tips and preparing for job interviews.
Must be Permanent Resident, Landed Immigrant, Convention
Refugee or Live-in Caregiver.

Employment Settlement Specialist (ESS)
One-on-one support services including personalized Return to
Work Action Plans, job search coaching and referrals.
Available to all unemployed or underemployed residents of
York Region who are able to work in Canada.

Free, job-specific language training delivered to employees
at the work-place. Topics and language functions specified
by the employer to enhance job performance and trainability.
Available to employees who are Landed Immigrants and

Seniors’ Computer Training - A 9 sessions computer
Youth Services:
Exercise Program for Seniors 65+ - This program is
Homework Club – Each week volunteers assist students
from grade 6-12 with their homework. Students can bring their
homework to the program for help in a social and supportive
environment. Lessons on communication skills and English
grammar included.
Homework Plus: Develop practical skills (Marketing,
Public Speaking, Event planning and Media Production) while
helping to raise awareness for a good cause! Gain volunteer
hours and develop skills for education and future employment
goals!
Success after High School: Post-Secondary Options
Exploration Series – 8 week program where participants get to
learn how to map educational and career goals, understand
job search strategies, create their resume and cover letter,
build interview Skills and meet University/ College
