Pyxis Prep module
Automating IV compounding workflow
The Pyxis Prep module enables safer compounding with computer-displayed preparation instructions.
As a technician begins the process, a compounding label is generated, initial components are verified
via a barcode scan and correlated images may be captured. The module also helps manage unused
IV medications returned to the pharmacy by storing them as inventory. If an identical IV medication is
requested before its expiration date, the software will notify the technician of the already-existing IV
medication and allow re-issue. If the medication is not usable, it can be appropriately discarded.
Pyxis Check module
Providing a documented check for all medications
The Pyxis Check module helps enable pharmacists to check all medications picked from Pyxis
Pharmogistics inventory management software and the Pyxis CIISafe system. When used with
®
the Pyxis Prep module, the pharmacist has the option to perform an intermediate check.
The pharmacist can also remotely inspect images of the compounded medications—allowing more
time for clinical activities on the nursing floor. Once verified, the IV medication can be delivered.
Pyxis ES Link
Tracking patient doses in transit
Trusted by nurses for its ability to remotely queue medications and document waste, Pyxis ES Link’s
expanded capabilities enable tracking of medications from the pharmacy to the nursing floor.
The web-accessible solution provides pharmacy and nursing visibility to the status and location
of medications—helping save more time than ever before. Searching and phone calls for missing
medications become less frequent and necessary. Tracking and delivery information can be viewed
via the Pyxis Enterprise Server and the Pyxis MedStation ES system. Automated documentation

enables hospitals to review current practices for ongoing compounding workflow improvement.
