NOVEMBER 2014 NEWSLETTER WOLFERTS ROOST COUNTRY CLUB Dear Members, SUNDAY BRUNCH AT THE ROOST 11am to 3pm, weekly Choose an entrée from our delicious brunch menu, or enjoy the scrumptious buffet. WOLFERTS ROOST COUNTRY CLUB 120 Van Rensselaer Blvd. Albany, NY 12204 www.wolfertsroost.com 518-449-3223 October 28, 2014 was an important day for the future of our club. We held the Wolferts Roost annual meeting, Board of Governors elections, and we were presented with a report from the Signature Group regarding a long range plan for the club. We had a strong turnout at the polls with over 230 voters participating. I want to thank all the members who came out to vote and also thank the nominating committee for putting together such a strong slate of candidates. Our new club officers are Andy Anderson - President, Nick Frangella - Vice President, Kevin O’Leary - Treasurer and David Mahoney - Club Secretary. I also want to thank the 8 members who stepped forward to run for open seats on the Board Governors. Congratulations to the 4 members who were elected, Dick Frederick, Bob Lynn, Christopher Madden and Steve VanUllen. I look forward to seeing the good work these members will bring to our board. A great deal of information was presented by the Signature group at the annual meeting. The board wanted the membership to see what we learned from your input, unfortunately the presentation was bogged down with results of the survey work. Important issues regarding actions the board has taken in terms of operation and policy improvements and most importantly facility upgrades may not have been conveyed as clearly as we would have liked. We want the members to know what we have done so far, what recommendations are being suggested and what may be included in a long range plan for overall improvements to the club. The Board is committed to making improvements and keeping the members engaged and involved in the process as we move forward. In the near term, additional information will be provided to the membership, to better inform you on the overall long range plan and recommendations the board may or may not agree with. I feel it is very important to note that this presentation was a step along the way and there are more good things coming for Wolferts Roost. We have displayed 2 conceptual plan renderings in the clubhouse for members to review. Please stop at the club and take a look at our possible future facilities. Bill Wagner, our interim GM, would be happy to discuss the concepts with you. We celebrated the best Halloween party at The Roost in recent history, Erin Hannafin and her cast of volunteers put on a great event and it shows how member involvement pays off. Thank you for all your efforts. We are quickly approaching 2015 and the Wolferts Roost Centennial celebration. Maureen and Dave Torncello and their committee have been hard at work planning for this historic event.
