Overview
The Tellabs® 1100 Multiservice Access Platform (MSAP) Series features
cost-effective, standards-based access solutions. Designed to enable
rapid creation of advanced, personalized point-to-point services to
increase competitive offerings and Average Revenue Per Unit (ARPU),
the Tellabs® 1100 MSAP series also offers a flexible infrastructure for
future enhancements in capacity, efficiency and service mix.

The Tellabs 1100 MSAP series enables comprehensive traffic
management measures to support best performance for all service
types deployed, particularly voice. Working from the core to the
furthest edge of the network, the system provides an enhanced level
of traffic identification and prioritization.

GPON
The core Tellabs 1100 MSAP series architecture that houses the
Optical Line Terminals (OLT) for Gigabit Passive Optical Networks
(GPON) utilizes a native Ethernet switching infrastructure with network
side interfaces terminating on the Ethernet Switching Unit (ESU). The
ESU features a standard Ethernet switch design with extensions to
add security and management appropriate for a public network.

The ESU operates as a L2/L3 Ethernet switch and provides L3
filtering and visibility. The ESU supports Internet Group Management
Protocol (IGMP) version 2/version 3 proxy and snooping for the
provision of IPTV service via GPON and Gigabit Ethernet Fiber-to-theCurb (GbE FTTC), as well as DSL-based links.
