LIBERTY-DAYTON - Bring
your family to downtown Liberty Tues., Dec. 2, for Country
Christmas sponsored by the Liberty-Dayton Area Chamber. The
lighted Christmas Parade begins
at 6 p.m. The parade will form
on Grand Avenue, turn north on
Travis, right on Sam Houston
and end in the area of the Liberty
Post Office.

DAYTON - The Dayton
Community Center is planning
its fifth annual Christmas tree
event and invites all local business, churches, organizations,
service clubs and individuals to
participate with this exciting
community activity. Program details are as follows:
• Each participant will make
any size donation as the entry fee
(payable to Liberty County
Bikes for Christmas)
• Each participant will provide a Christmas tree no taller
than seven feet (real or artificial).
• Each participant will fully
decorate their own tree.
• Each participant will place
their fully decorated tree in preapproved location.
• Each participant will place
a sign so as to identify the sponsoring business, church, service
club, organization or individuals.
• Each participant may start
their set-up of the tree at any
time.
• The deadline for entry is
December 17.
• Winner will be selected by
a pre-approved panel of judges.
• Winner will receive a trophy and recognition by local
media.
The proceeds generated by
this event will be used for toys,

Dayton Community Center, beginning at 6 p.m. A lighted parade will not be held until Sat.,
Dec. 13, sponsored by Good Old

Activities will be the same at
both Liberty and Dayton.
Santa is coming to the Vara
Faye Martin Daniel Pavilion
after the Liberty parade and is
anxious to meet the children and
have his picture made with each
family. At each event, each family is encouraged to bring their
camera or Smart phone to take a
picture of their children with
Santa. Limited time permits only
one picture made with Santa per
family. The office of Trinity Valley Medical Clinic, Dr. David
McClellan and Dale Brock, FNP,
will help in this area. Dee Ann
Smith and Tiffany Turner, owners of The Cottage, are decorating a very special tree to
complete the Santa scene, for
your pictures.
In Dayton, look for Santa in
the Dayton Community Center
hallway lined with Christmas
trees. He will be waiting for you
to make your picture with him!
Space City Clowns will again
return to create balloon figures
for the children. A great line-up
of entertainment is scheduled for
everyone’s enjoyment. Cliff
Richey and Bill Monk of ThrifTee Food Center will be playing
the best of Christmas music on
their sound system. Singers and
dancers will be performing to
add to your Christmas spirit.
Enjoy refreshments of hot
chocolate and cookies, prepared
by Reeves Barbecue and Catering, served from their brightly
decorated trailer. Bouncin’ Lil
Rascals will furnish the moonwalks for the enjoyment of the
younger children. Look for “The
Train Event.” the Bush Family’s
colorful trackless train and jump
on board for a super ride!

wagon, either in the parade, or
you can line up after the parade
for the wagon or trailer rides.
Caroling is a must when you
ride. If it is a bit chilly, you may
want to bring along a jacket or
blanket to wrap up in.
Face-Painter’s will be waiting to brighten each face with the
look of Christmas, festive ornaments, trees, stars, wreaths and

DAYTON - Karen Renee McNair, 58, of Dayton, died Sat., Nov.
22, 2014, at the San Jacinto
Methodist Hospital in Baytown. A
memorial service was held at 3 p.m.,
Sun., Nov. 30, at the First United
Methodist Church in Dayton.
Karen was born January 21,
1956, in Pasadena to Asa B. and
Gytha Rusk McNair. She had
been a lifelong resident of Dayton, was a
graduate of
the Dayton
High School
class of 1974,
received her
undergraduate in finance
from Stephen
F. Austin University, and
McNAIR
her Doctorate
of Jurisprudence from South
Texas College of Law.
She was an assistant county
attorney for Liberty County,
member of the First United
Methodist Church of Dayton, the
Texas Bar Association, Daughters of the Republic of Texas,
and participated in many other
social activities. She also enjoyed horses, music, theater, and
spending time with her family.
She was preceded in death by
her father, Asa B. McNair. She is
survived by her husband of 31
years, Rick Fosburgh of Dayton;
daughters, Paula Rae Harville
and husband Darby of Virginia,
Kristen Renee Fosburgh of
Houston; son, Asa Matthew Fosburgh of Dayton; mother, Gytha
Rusk McNair of Dayton; brothers, Craig McNair and wife Lisa
of Dayton, Mark McNair and
wife Jerri of Burleson; father-inlaw, Bob Fosburgh and wife Lola
of Dayton; four grandchildren;
numerous other relatives, and
friends. For those who desire, donations may be made to your
cancer support group of choice.

TEENS FOR JEANS
HARDIN - The students at
Hardin High School are collecting gently worn jeans for the
“Teens for Jeans” program that
provides jeans to homeless
youth. You can donate by dropping off your jeans at Hardin
High School or contact the high
school at 936-298-2118 to request a pick up. This campaign
runs through February.
HARDIN ISD FOOD DRIVE
