ONTARIO CYCLING ASSOCIATION INC. 212 – 3 Concorde Gate, Toronto, Ontario M3C 3N7 Telephone: 416-426-7416 Fax:416-426-7349 Dear OCA Members, In November, the OCA Board met for our annual Fall Planning Board Retreat in Milton, home of the new Mattamy National Cycling Centre - Milton Velodrome. As a result of the feedback we received from our membership during the last AGM, we focused a large part of the meeting on an in-depth analysis of our current communication strategy. We were fortunate to have the expertise of a committed member, who volunteered to give back to the sport by assisting the Board in developing new strategies and tools to improve membership communications. These exciting and innovative ideas will be consolidated into the revamped Communication Strategy Policy for the OCA that will be rolled out in 2015 to further engage all of our stakeholders. Furthermore, the other large portion of the retreat was dedicated to High Performance and Event Participation planning. We reviewed the current metrics against our 2020 goals and we will consider this as the 2015 Operational Plan is created with the staff over the next several weeks. The Board is impressed with the continued growth in the young men and women entering the sport of cycling, the growing number of quality events and participation opportunities available and how the numerous stakeholders, including the OCA, are positioned to take advantage of the new Mattamy National Cycling Centre - Milton Velodrome. On Friday afternoon we were fortunate enough to be able to get a tour of the new Mattamy National Cycling Centre - Milton Velodrome. Unfortunately, we weren’t holding our meetings in our new offices due to unforeseen construction delays, pushing back the opening of the facility. However, we were able to see the newly UCI certified track and knowing what the future holds, it’s truly an inspiring venue. As a tenant of this amazing new facility, we will have daily access to the track and all of the great training and testing facilities within. There is further information on the delays posted on our website. For detailed information please contact the town of Milton. - Affiliated to Cycling Canada - This is an incredible opportunity for Cycling in Ontario and Canada and we look forward to a great relationship with the Town of Milton in ensuring this facility is a lasting legacy for the community and our sport! This past weekend, we met at the Cardinal Golf Club with many of our stakeholders and members to celebrate another amazing season of Cycling in Ontario while recognizing the best in our sport. We would like to thank everyone who attended, making this event one to remember and all of the members who make the sport of cycling in Ontario inspiring to be a part of!
