DEPARTMENT OF LIVESTOCK AND PASTURE SCIENCE PROFESSOR/ ASSOCIATE PROFESSOR/ SENIOR LECTURER/LECTURER (3 posts): Animal Breeding, Animal Health and Mono-gastric Nutrition Minimum requirements: An MSc/PhD in Animal Science, with speciality in any of the following: Mono-gastric Nutrition, Animal Breeding/Genetics or Animal Health, integrated with aspects on anatomy, physiology and animal welfare; Lecturing experience in ether of the following: Pig and Poultry Science, Animal Breeding/genetics or Animal Health; For animal health, the candidate must be registered with the South African Council for Veterinary Scientists; Research experience (A substantial research publication for a Professor , Well developed research and publication record for a Senior Lecturer and Established and clear interest towards research for a Lecturer) Experience in leading joint research projects; Good teamwork, interpersonal and leadership skills; Strong language and communication skills. The ability to attract undergraduate and postgraduate students to the Department For a professorship/Senior Lectureship post, the candidate should have a PhD and a record of post-graduate supervision at Masters and PhD level, and evidence of previous funding awarded. Duties: Teach modules at undergraduate and post-graduate levels Initiate own research and supervise students at Honours, MSc and PhD level, and attract research funding Engage in interdisciplinary collaborative research and community engagement Participate in normal administrative duties necessary for the smooth running of the department.
