Park Road South, Birkenhead, Wirral CH43 4UY Tel: 0151 652 1574 Fax: 0151 653 6760 Principal: Geraint Parry PA to Principal: Diane Welch 19 November 2014 Dear Parent I would like to share some updates with you regarding attendance. As you are aware, the school day starts at 8.40 am and we expect students to be in form group or assembly at this time. To ensure that our students recognise the importance of time keeping and the necessity to be in their form sessions, there will be a consequence for those students who arrive late to school. This forms part of our culture of ‘Ready for Learning.’ If students are late for school they will have an automatic detention with their Assistant Head of Year. We appreciate your support in ensuring that students are in school on time. The Academy is now able to request Fixed Penalty Notices for those students who arrive to school after registration closes on ten or more occasions. We aim for students to have 100% attendance at school, but we recognise that there are occasions when it is not possible for a student to be present. May we remind you to phone into school if your daughter/son will be absent, so that we are aware of the reason. Should absence persist, we will offer support to ensure that our students get the most from school life. In accordance with Government policy, holidays during term time are no longer authorised. All requests for holidays must be made in writing to the Principal. Principals will continue to request Fixed Penalty Notices for persistent absence which could include unauthorised holidays. Thank you for your continued support in ensuring that we can give each student the very best opportunities at school. If you would like to discuss any of the above points, please do not hesitate to contact me. Yours sincerely Mr P Mee Assistant Principal
