School Counsellor
(Permanent, Part-time 2015)
We seek a counsellor with a background in psychology and or experience working in a
school environment.
You will need the following expertise:
 Graduate and preferably post-graduate qualifications
 Professional membership
 Excellent communication and listening skills
 Passionate about young people and their needs
 An understanding and respect for cultural and gender differences
 Knowledge and understanding of boarding students
 Understanding of students who aspire to excellence within the school environment.
 Willing to work within a multi-disciplinary team
This position will be for 4 full days per week (32 hours), Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday,
Friday, (during the school) term time only.

OBJECTIVES
1. To provide a confidential counselling service to students.
DUTIES
TASKS
To liaise with families as
appropriate.
To liaise with outside agencies,
contributing schools and training
providers.
To support and advise staff and
act as a resource person.
To support and advise parents,
guardians and families.
To work closely with the Pastoral
Care Network.
To work with the Senior
Management Team, House Staff,
Deans and staff on student
related matters.
To act as advocate for students in
disciplinary situations.
To work with the Careers Advisor
on careers matters.
Reports to external supervisor as
appropriate.
Member of a professional
counselling association.
To be involved in the wider life of
