For over 90 years, the Western Australian community has helped Princess Margaret Hospital for Children
(PMH) grow into a world-class paediatric facility. PMH is the only specialist children’s hospital in Western
Australia and treats over 320,000 patients every year. The hospital caters for children with a wide range of
illnesses and injuries, from minor abrasions to life-threatening conditions such as cancer and cystic fibrosis.
The Children’s Hospital at Westmead is the highly respected , largest paediatric centre in NSW,
providing excellent care for children from NSW, Australia and across the Pacific Rim.
The Children’s Hospital at Westmead is world renowned for providing the best care for sick children and
their families. This specialist care, combined with community education, advocacy for improved child
health and ground-breaking research into childhood illnesses, is blended within a positive, caring and healing environment.
Children with problems such as severe burns, major heart conditions, and liver and kidney diseases are referred to The
Children’s Hospital at Westmead because it houses leading specialty units within the Hospital grounds.
While many other charities are working to find cures for or support a specific childhood illness, the Royal
Children’s Hospital Queensland is working on them all. As Queensland’s major tertiary hospital, the Royal
children’s Hospital & Health Service District cares for over 100,000 children each year with life-threatening
illnesses, serious injuries, growth and nutritional problems, surgical procedures, rare procedures, rare
diseases, burns and rehabilitation.
As well as performing Australia’s first successful paediatric liver transplant, the team at the Royal Children’s Hospital in
Brisbane is also responsible for reducing time taken to diagnose the meningococcal disease from two days to just one
hour, which is saving children’s lives. Ground breaking advancements are also being made in the treatment of young burns
patients, with current research aimed at unlocking the secret to scarless healing. Without your involvement, vital medical
research and initiatives such as these, which benefit thousands of sick and injured kids and their families, may otherwise
not exist.
In the Mater Children’s Hospital, our staff ensures children from all over Queensland are given exceptional
care, providing specialist treatment in areas such as Growth and Development and Respiratory Medicine.
In addition, the Mater Children’s Accident and Emergency Department is the busiest paediatric emergency
department in Queensland treating over 31,000 children last year.
The McGrath Foundation was co-founded by Jane McGrath and her cricketing husband, Glenn McGrath,
after diagnosis and initial recovery from breast cancer in 2002.
However, it wasn’t until 2003 when Jane was being treated for a secondary cancer, that Jane first had
access to a breast care nurse. A breast care nurse is a specially trained nurse who acts as a patient
advocate, coordinating care for women with breast cancer, their families and cares.
Because of Jane’s experience, two main objectives of the McGrath Foundation became clean: to raise money to place
much-needed McGrath Breast Care Nurses throughout rural and regional Australia to support women diagnosed with
breast cancer and their families as well as increasing breast awareness in young women. To find out more about the
