University of MN, Twin Cities Priority Application Deadline was December 15! U of M, Twin Cities will send offers of admission to students on a rolling basis and all students who submit a complete application by the December 15, 2014, priority deadline will receive their decisions by the end of February. All applications that become complete on or before December 15 will receive equal consideration. (A checklist of the items needed for a complete application can be found at http://admissions.tc.umn.edu/apply/complete.html.) Students who apply or whose applications become complete after December 15 will be considered for admission on a space-available basis, when space is limited and admission is more competitive. Mensa Education & Research Foundation 2014 – 2015 Scholarship Essay Contest Can you clearly state your academic or career goals and why you will achieve them? Mensa members and their dependents are eligible for additional scholarships. All applications must be submitted online by 11:59 p.m. Central Time, January 15, 2015. This year, the Affinity Plus Foundation will be awarding five $5,000 scholarships between these four separate divisions: - Freshmen (Those entering their first year of college) - Upperclassmen (Sophomores, Juniors or Seniors) - Nontraditional (Those returning to school after time away) - Master’s/Doctorate (Graduate students) To be considered for one of the scholarships, you must: - Be a primary member of Affinity Plus Federal Credit Union - Follow all the application instructions and checklist provided - Submit all requested materials to an Affinity Plus branch location, or have them postmarked by January 31, 2015. Please be aware of branch hours. If you are applying to Alexandria Technical and Community College for 2015-2016, there is a new scholarship (Presidents' Shining Star Scholarship) for which you can apply. You must have a 3.25 or higher overall GPA -OR- an ACT composite of 25 or higher. Applications are available in the College and Career Center and are due on February 15th. T.E.A.C.H. Early Childhood® MINNESOTA is accepting applications for its Judy Lindman Memorial Scholars forgivable loan awards, which are given to a limited number of Minnesota high school seniors every year. You may also find the application on our website: http://www.childcareawaremn.org/professionals-caregivers/grants-scholarships/teachscholarships/applications The American College Foundation Scholarship 2015-2016 Award Year Applicant must be currently enrolled as a High School Freshman, Sophomore, Junior, or Senior (2018, 2017, 2016, or 2015); and, must be a United States citizen or eligible non-citizen. Relatives of the American College Foundation Staff are not eligible to apply. Financial need is NOT considered; all income levels may apply. Awards range from $1,000 to $5,000 each; with multiple winners to be selected. Each award is a non-renewable, one-time award and is to be used exclusively to offset costs and fees related directly to the student's first year of higher post-secondary education at an accredited institution of the student's choosing within the United States. In the event an underclassman is an award recipient, the monies will be held by the American College Foundation until the student completes high school and begins their higher education; at which time the awarded amount will be distributed. The American College Foundation Scholarship Committee will determine, and has final say, on all award recipients. ENRICHMENT/LEADERSHIP OPPORTUNITIES 2015 ACT Spring Course As the leading university in Central Minnesota, St. Cloud State University understands the vital role that college entrance exams such as the ACT play in college admissions. Properly prepared students are more likely to perform to their highest potential, and St. Cloud State University’s Test Prep team wants to help area students meet their potential through our ACT Spring Course. SCSU Test Prep will run their first ACT Spring Course in St. Cloud, MN this Spring. This year, the Course will include 24 hours of classroom learning, led by one of our leading test preparation experts. The course is set to begin on February 21 and run on Saturdays from 9:00 a.m. -1:00 p.m. through April 11. Runestone Electric Youth Tour: June 13-18 Runestone Electric Association is seeking applicants for this all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C. for the 2015 Youth Tour, June 13-18. This is not your ordinary sight-seeing tour. Students will see their government in action, cruise the Potomac, meet their congressional leaders, explore the Smithsonian museums, spend a day on Capitol Hill, and mingle with other teens from across the nation.
