Detas SpA
Detas was founded in 1896 in Pola, a beautiful
city in the peninsula of Istria. The production
and commerce were centered in electronics and
numerous electrical supplies. As the years passed,
Detas started the production of power supplies and
specialized in industrial automation, a branch that
is still active and growing today under the original
Detas brand.
In 1998, Detas expanded its market to road
safety devices and the D-Power division was
founded. D-Power focused from the beginning
on road safety, manufacturing flashers, markers,
vehicle equipment and safety systems. This is where
our experience with LEDs grew, then in 2008 the
DLEDS division was started, extending the
road safety mission to LED lighting.
The first products to be developed were tunnel
and toll station LED lights, achieving immediate
success. The line was then extended to streetlights,
commercial indoor and industrial lighting products.
DLEDS developed a worldwide sales network and
has a wide portfolio of customers and completed
projects.

In our facilities in Rezzato, Italy, our lights are
designed, manufactured and constantly
upgraded. Our technical department has years of
experience with the combination of LEDs, power
supplies, optics and our clients have learned they can
expect top quality equipment. Detas has an in-house
Goniophotometer, specifically designed to test the
performance of LED lights, chromameters, thermal,
corrosion and IP test chambers.
Strict quality control is one of the keys to our success.
Every light is tested individually in a burn-in period and
parameters such as color quality and electronic values
are checked. Nothing is left to chance.
We invest in reliability, performance, service and
flexibility, always offering the shortest ROI and the most
effective lighting solution.
Detas Corporation is the North American division of
Detas SpA (Italy). This office opened in 2012 and offers
import and custom clearance services from Italy for
customers that are unable to import products to the
US/Canada. We also stocks samples of our products for
agents and distributors.
The facility is equipped for product training and
marketing seminars for the DLEDS’ product line.
Approvals
The products marked with this logo are TÜV listed and
tested according to CAN/CSA C22.2 No. 250.0-08 and
UL 1598 3rd Edition 09.2009.
TÜV SUD is one of the laboratories that run a full
testing program for the NRTL program under OSHA. All
accredited labs are legally recognized to work in the US
and Canada for product safety certifications.

The 3S is an optics used for general high
bay lighting. The wide circular beam also
allows quality lighting uniformity in low
bay applications.
The 13S is an optics used for high bays
shelving and general industrial lighting
at very high mounting heights. It is often
used to increase the lighting on work
stations or for outdoor sign lighting.
The 19A is an optics mainly used for
streetlighting. It provides a deeper light
beam in the front of the fixture than the
8A, while keeping a very high level of
ground luminance.

The 6A is our most popular optics for
lighting parking lots. It offers a higher level
of ground illuminance and area coverage.
It is also used in some streetlighting
applications.
The 14A is our most popular optics for
streetlighting. This optic ensures great
lighting uniformity and low glare. It is also
widely used in perimeters of parking lots or
wall mounted on buildings.
The 20S is a spotlight optics designed for
highlighting outdoor details/signs, it can
be used for lighting workstations as well.

The 8A is an optics designed for highway
junctions and single lane roads/cycle lanes.
It features a very concentrated beam that
is wide with narrow depth. Car dealerships
find it useful to highlight a long row of cars,
perhaps on the front row of a display lot.
The 16A2 is our optics designed specifically
for pedestrian crossings. Designed to deliver
a double asymmetric beam that lights
the zebra crossing (horizontal plan) with a
shaped beam and the pedestrian’s body
(vertical beam) to catch the attention of
drivers.
The 21S is a perfect optical solution
for medium/high height shelving
warehouses, where usable light is
required on the shelves and the ground.

The 12A is an optics mainly used for parking
lot lighting, where the widest area coverage
is the priority. To achieve that, it sacrifices a
little of ground illuminance.
The 18A is an optics mainly used for
streetlighting. It provides a higher ground
luminance than the 14A, but the light
is not projected as far out into the road
(wide beam with narrow depth).
The 27S is a perfect optical solution
for low/medium height shelving
warehouses, where usable light is
required on the shelves and the ground.
Lighting design
Lighting is abstract, subjective, and personal, so everyone sees it in their
own way.
When talking about incandescent or discharge lighting, the measuring
unit has been watts for a long time and people are used to that.
Moving to LEDs, the new measuring unit became lumens, which is
measured at the fixture.
We saw that more lumens didn’t necessarily lead to more foot-candles
delivered to the ground.
The optical distribution, or in other words how lumens are used, is the
key factor.
PRODUCT NOMENCLATURE
Selecting the best fixture(s) and visualizing the finished project would
be difficult if it were not for a service we can offer for lighting design
and evaluation. If the project is indoor or outdoor, new construction or
retrofit, we create a computer model of the building or property layout.
We will then use this model to complete a study which provides you
with a light layout diagram (if applicable, pole location and height), a
foot-candle value matrix, isolines and pictures of the new lighting in a
3D view (rendering).

To avoid electrical disturbances on the power
line, the existing fluorescent ballast should

Auditorium
In this project we replaced 1x500W
incandescent + 2x250W metal halide using 1
Pad 100R700-N3S-277 (215W).
The lights are mounted at 27ft and a 1-10V
dimming circuit was installed with a special
effects control unit.
Car dealer
In this project we replaced 250W metal halide
with Akron 40R700-W6A-277 (85W) and 400W
metal halide with Akron 50R700-W6A-277
(105W).
In areas where the customer desired more
light, the 250 watt MH were replaced by
Akron 50R700.

Crosswalk
In this project we used two Stratos P 50R700W16A2DX-277 (105W) mounted at 18ft. This is
an application of our crosswalk optics.
It provides 35 foot-candles on the zebra
crossing and 15 foot-candles on the body of
the pedestrian.
D-Power flashers and backlit crosswalk sign are
available.
Highway junction
In this project we replaced 250W high pressure
sodium with Stratos G 60R700-W8A-277
(125W). The Stratos are mounted at 33ft.
The 8A optics is used in this kind of application
to highlight the vehicles that are entering or
exiting the highway.

Industry
In this project we replaced 400W metal
halide with Pad OP 100R700-W3S-277 (215W)
mounted at 45ft.
The frosted glass (OP) reduces the glare in
warehouses where workers have to look up
towards the lights for their ordinary tasks.
The customer required 20 foot-candles at 4ft
off the ground.
Tunnel
In this project we replaced 100W high pressure
sodium with Radiant 5 30R550-W6A-277
(53W).
When switching to LEDs in tunnels, the ROI
is usually very short because the lights are
required to be on all day long.
