PARISH EVENTS
ITALIAN CLUB
Bring in the New Year with the Italian Club Dinner Dance.
There’s plenty of food, music, Champaign to toast the
new year, noise makers and much more. The cost is
only $50.00.
FINANCIAL SITUATION
Just a reminder that we are dependent upon your generous contributions through the Sunday collections. We
have experienced a bit of a drop due to the announcement of our merger. We still have to maintain our beautiful Parish and hope that you would continue your previous
giving both on Sundays and especially at Christmas time.
In the last month we have had unexpected bills for the
repair of the organ and the boiler. We cannot run the Parish without these two essential things. We have already
spent close to $20,000 just in fuel costs thus far. Please
don’t forget us when you prepare your envelope for Sunday Mass. Thank you for your generosity.
SEASONED SENIORS
Once again we would like to thank Deacon Tom & Fran
for a wonderful Christmas luncheon. The seniors enjoyed
their annual Christmas meal in the cafeteria with a 50/50
raffle and many prizes raffled off. For over 20 years the
senior group has been one of the largest groups serving
the parish and the community. Over the years the seniors
have traveled on cruises and have taken many one day
and overnight trips. This was due in a large part to
Deacon Tom’s planning and arranging these events
through the years. We cannot thank him enough for his
time and energy. The Christmas luncheon was the last
event for the seniors here at St. Ursula. We thank all who
generously supported the senior group. In our merger
with Sts. Peter & Paul their senior group meets on
Wednesday after the 12:00 mass. All are invited to attend. Please call Sts. Peter & Paul for specific information.
CHRISTMAS CAROLING
We would like to thank Annesa & Marcia and the parishioners of the parish who participated in the caroling at
Sunrise Nursing Home on Saturday, December 20th. The
residents thoroughly enjoyed the visit and singing along
with the group reminded them of their own Christmas’ with
family and friends. Thank you for adding a little Christmas
cheer to their lives.
ITALIAN CLUB
For over 25 years the Italian Club has been providing dinners and trips to various venues and has raised and given
very generous donations to the Church. Without these
contributions various projects in the parish could not have
been accomplished. At times, some of the contributions
were used to carry us through difficult financial situations.
We most especially thank Emidio & Vito for all that
they have done to make the Italian Club such a success through the years. The Christmas Dinner Dance
was another fine example of the Club’s efforts. We thank
the Club for their Christmas gift of $12,000.00 to the parish. Thank you to all the participants who have supported
the Italian Club through the years. The Club will continue
their regular monthly meetings until June.
MEET & GREET
Thank you to Fr. John & Fr. Francis and parishioners from
Sts. Peter & Paul in joining the parishioners of St. Ursula
for a Meet & Greet. After all the Masses parishioners of
both parishes were able to discuss our similarities and
how we might make a smooth transition. We look forward
to our parishioners attending Mass and a reception at Sts.
Peter & Paul in the coming months.
MERRY CHRISTMAS!
To all our parishioners, friends and visitors. Come again!
Thank you for your support and encouragement as we
celebrate the birth of the Lord.
CHRISTMAS DECORATIONS
I would like to thank all who helped to decorate the
Church for Christmas. The flowers, trees and decorations
help us to focus on Jesus and the true meaning of Christmas. We would also like to thank our Altar Servers, Ushers, Lectors, Eucharistic Ministers, Choirs, Organist, Sacristan and Deacons.

You may leave a prayer intention in our prayer basket.
Your petition will be prayed by the various prayer groups

ECHOING MARY’S DECISION
The angel Gabriel today confronts Mary with a mystery.
The mystery of salvation in Christ is not a mystery that is
solved, but a reality beyond our comprehension that we
must choose to enter into. In the liturgy of the Eastern
Church, everyone waits to see if Mary will enter into the
mystery: God waits, Adam and Eve and all the souls of the
dead who long for paradise wait, angels wait for new heavenly companions. And there is much rejoicing when her
decision is “yes.”
We have less dramatic choices offered to us, but the
mystery of our salvation in Christ is by no means “solved.”
We may understand it a bit better due to Mary’s “yes.” We
may be a bit closer to it through the passion, death, and
resurrection of Jesus Christ. But it still remains a mystery to
which we all must give our own “yes.” Soon we will be singing “O come, let us adore him.” May our Advent prayer, our
echo of Mary’s “yes,” continue then, so we may enter into
the mystery of our salvation in Jesus Christ, God among
us.
