Speed Looks To Be Wildcats’ Greatest Advantage
The Pinelands boys’ basketball team is hoping for big results this season, but they aren’t going to be doing it
with their size. The team is guard heavy and is looking to use speed and three-point shooting to keep pace in
the B-South division. The key returning players this year are senior guard Zach Wiatrowski, senior forward
Milanj Coursey, junior forward David Lunn, and junior guard Luke Stambaugh. Adding key minutes for the
Wildcats will be newcomer juniors Mike Suarez, Will Jenkins, and Ryan Ross along with sophomores Chris
Burke and Steven Skeie. The team to beat in the division this year will be Lakewood and the Wildcats open
up against them on December 19 at home. The boys will be looking to jumpstart their season with a win and
then head into the Southern Regional Christmas tournament.

Pinelands Bowling Hopes To Bowl Their Way To The Top
Last season the girls’ bowling team set a school record for the most wins in a season, finishing 32-13. Anthony
Lupo is back for his third year as head coach and the Lady Cats are returning four of their five varsity starters this
year. With all of this experience, Pinelands will be a very difficult team to beat. The key returners are seniors
Paige Kaub (Captain), Lauren Kopf, Savannah Stephenson and junior Ariel Schano. Newcomer, junior, Katie
Nolan will round out the starting line-up. Key substitute players to watch are junior Breanna O’Neal and sophomore Bonnie Burton. Pinelands is expected to finish second in the division, winning a minimum of 35 games. In
addition, the Lady Cats hope to at least finish second at the sectional tournament in February, allowing them to
qualify for the state tournament for the second straight year. The Lady Cats have already kicked off their season
this year competing against ManchesRemaining Bowling Schedule

Wrestling
Wrestlers Ready To Leave It All On The Mat
In his first year as Head Coach, Neil Saunders, will look to turn the Wildcat culture around and return to the glory
days of the mid 80s-90s era. This year Saunders will be assisted by Gerald Caravella and Joe Adelizzi. The team has
a promising outlook with the bottom half of the line-up anchored by Senior Mike Heck, who carried a 27-4 record
last year. Down low in the line-up the Wildcats will be young but tough. The middle of the line-up will have it’s own
hammer in Thomas Poklikuha, who finished up 36-4 and made it to the New Jersey State Championship tournament
where he won 2 matches. Up-top Sophomores Chris Neilson and Mike Frezza will try to score as many points as possible for the Wildcats. The Wildcats will be wrestling in the tough B-South division in the super competitive Shore
Conference. The team opens up December 19 at CBA in the Colt Classic.
