Strong Returning Cast Should Lead To More Titles
Entering the 2015 season, the Pinelands Regional softball team looks to build on their incredible success
from last year, when they finished the year with a 27-4 record, that included winning the Ocean County
tittle and capturing the B-South Co-Championship title, along with rival Donovan Catholic. Having lost
two seniors from last year, Corinne Huber and Emma Neuwiler, the Lady Cats return strong talent such
as starting pitcher Naomi Stas, who has committed to Philadelphia University. With this dominant starting pitcher, the Lady Cats also have a talented group of seniors returning to support her in the field.
Catcher Steph Healy, first baseman Emily Dancisin, second baseman Kurstin Binshedler, and third
baseman Shannyn Herron, all of whom were vital pieces to last year success, will all be returning this
year. Along with this veteran

Boys’ Tennis
Strong Returning Players Look To Defend B-South Title
Last season the boys’ tennis team dominated their conference going 14-0 and winning the B-South championship. The team finished 19-3 overall. Their only loses came in a close regular season match against Southern Regional; in the second round of the shore conference tournament to powerhouse CBA; and in the semi-finals of
the state tournament to Hammonton. The boys dominated on their home court by winning all 12 matches, inclusive of winning the first two rounds of state tournament and winning the first round of the shore conference tournament. This year they have three returning varsity players. Seniors Paul Cardillo, Tom Poklikuha, and Joshua
Humphreys. The key new comers are Tim Kelleher, Jordon Humphreys, and Shane Nourie. Coach Jones said
that he is very excited to see how these young players will develop and progress throughout the season. Jones has
been the head coach of the boys’ tennis team since 2012. In his first three seasons Jones has won two B-South
championships, has an overall record of 48-16, conference record of 31-5, and a home record of 30-4. Coach
Jones stated “I feel we have a good foundation and enough athleticism to win another B-South championship and
possibly the Ocean County Tournament. This year’s team has great chemistry and has a desire to win.” The Cats
home opener will be April 3 against Brick Township at 3:45 p.m. They will also battle rival, Southern Regional,
at home on April 7, at 10:00 a.m.

Follow-Up Sports News
On Saturday, February 21, Lauren Zodl ran the last indoor track race of her high school career when she
competed at the New Jersey State Meet of Champions in the 3200m race. She placed sixth in the race
running a time of 11:04 (her indoor 3200 PR) and marking the best finish by a Pinelands female track
athlete since Amy Beykirch won the 3200m race in 1997. This was Lauren's 8th straight appearance at a
state championship race. This year she has placed in both the cross country and indoor track state championships and she has high hopes for the spring track season as she enters her final season of sports here
at PRHS.
