Children’s 2015 Summer Camp
Children that are currently in grade 3-6 are invited to
CentriKid Camp this summer. This year we will travel
to Eagle Eyrie on Monday, June 22 and return on
Friday June 26. The cost of this year’s camp is $164/
child with a deposit of $50 due by February 1. This is a
special week for our children where they are in community with each other and with children from other
churches. They focus on connecting with God through
Bible study, recreation, Worship and evening events.
If you would like more information and/or to sign up
for camp email Barbara Edwards, Minister to Children
& Families, at [email protected]
Thanks from PACEM
CBGC’s dedication to PACEM’s ministry
of compassion for our neighbors who are
homeless is to be commended. Please let
the people of your congregation know
that their donations strengthen our community.
Chestnut Grove has joined with over 90 other faith
communities, including more than 3,000 volunteers,
in providing much-needed and greatly-appreciated
supplies, shelter, food, and support for those who
would otherwise have nowhere to lay their heads.
Christmas is a happy time for
us at The Earlysville Exchange!
Children, ages 4-14, can shop
on Saturday, December 20 at their own special
spot between 9am-4pm. We will have friends on hand
to help with their selections as well as the wrapping of
their gifts.
Business Meeting &
Book of Reports
Our quarterly Business Meeting
will be held on Wednesday,
January 7 at 7pm. Book of Report entries are
due by Monday, December 29, to the church office:
[email protected] or 978-3819.
2015 Worship Expansion
Task Force
Since August 2014, Chestnut Grove
leaders have steadily considered
how to lovingly and intentionally
accommodate new worshipers at Chestnut Grove.
We have recently opened the Earlysville Exchange
to enhance our capacity for FRUITFULNESS. We currently seek a full time Associate Pastor to expand our
FORMATION (disciple-making) wherewithal. Expanding worship capacity is the next large-scale challenge
facing our congregation. (Build? Export? Launch?
Rent? Relocate? Overlap? Add?)
A new Worship Expansion Task Force has been
appointed by Deacon Chair Ed Kwasnick and Pastor
Lance to formally resume this critical conversation and
propose a comprehensive solution to our congregation.
Conway Crenshaw, Jeff Robbins, Sharon Veith, Katie
Alfano, and Ed Kwasnick (chair) will convene in January, seeking congregational feedback along the way.
It is hoped that a solution will be prescient by spring/
summer 2015, so that we might be well-prepared to
welcome new Chestnut Grovians next autumn.
2015 Summer Day Camp—
Vacation Bible School
You will want to be part of this very special week of
sharing God’s love through story, song, games, crafts
and conversation. During the week of June 15-19
we will invite our community of children to gather
together to learn how God is a part of their lives.
Check your calendars- we will soon be asking you to
be a part of this week.

Nursery Lead Teacher Opening
This Sunday’s Texts:
Chestnut Grove is accepting applications for our paid
nursery position. The objective of this position is to
provide a loving, nurturing experience for children
ranging in age from infant to 2 years old during our
Sunday morning worship services. The children need a
warm and friendly environment while their parents
attend the 8:30am service, Sunday school, or the 11am
service. This person will provide continuity as children
transition from worship service to Sunday school, or
Sunday school to worship service. Applications may be
obtained from our website, chestnutgrovebaptist.org
or from Barbara Edwards, Minister to Children & Families
Psalm 146:5-10
Luke 1:46b-55
What does the Scripture say to you?
Note of Thanks
Dear Chestnut Grove,
Once again I write to thank your
congregation for your generous
support of our Food Pantry. In
addition to your faithful gifts of
money, we have been blessed with donations of food
and volunteer time.
The Earlysville Exchange has already blessed the community in many ways. One of them was the donation
of 50 Food Lion gift cards to the Food Pantry a couple
of weeks ago. What a remarkable witness to Chestnut
Grove’s vision and faithful response to God’s call!
Love in Christ.
The Rev. Connie Clark, Vicar
Buck Mountain Episcopal Church
Chestnut Grove treasures our team of volunteers.
This week’s (Sunday, Dec 21) children’s workers are:

9:50 Kristy Shifflett, Lindsay Harris, Elizabeth Dugas,

Alternative Sunday school & Breakfast Connection at 9:30am in the Upper Room. We
will then form multi-generational teams for a fiercely funny post-Christmas competition.
