PARISH
SACRAMENTS
SACRAMENT OF THE MOST HOLY
EUCHARIST
As a parish, the Holy Sacrifice of the
Mass is central to who we are and what we do.
Normal Mass Times are listed on the front of the
bulletin. Please contact the office for special Mass
times during Lent and Holy Days of Obligation. To
receive your First Holy Communion, contact the
Parish Office, 896-9408.
SACRAMENT OF CONFESSION
Essential to the Christian Life, the
Sacrament of Confession is where we come into
contact with Christ who wishes to heal and bless us.
Regular Confession is an integral part of practicing
our Faith and experiencing the peace and joy of a
personal relationship with Jesus. 30 minutes before
every Mass, the Sacrament of Confession is offered.
If you need to receive the Sacrament of Confession
for the first time, contact the Parish Office, 8969408.
SACRAMENT OF BAPTISM
Through the waters of Baptism, the new
Christian enters the Church and is given Eternal
Life. If you would like to have your infant baptized,
please contact the Parish Office at least 2-4 months
prior to the baby’s due date so that there is enough
time to complete preparation for the Sacrament.
Parents
should
be
registered,
participating members of the Parish Family.
Candidates for Sponsors (Godparents) should be
attending Mass regularly. Both parents and sponsors
will attend a Baptismal Seminar before they receive
the Baptismal Packet which must be received before
an approved date is scheduled.
If you are a parent or an adult seeking the
Sacrament of Baptism, please contact the Parish
Office, 896-9408.
SACRAMENT OF MARRIAGE
In the beginning, God created mankind
as one, male and female. Christ elevated this union
to the level of a Sacrament, an image of His own love
for His Bride, The Church. Our Parish Family is
made up of many beautiful marriages who enrich the
Church and the world. Couples discerning the
vocation of Holy Matrimony should contact the
Parish Office to begin the journey of preparing for
their new life together no later than 6-9 months prior
to the desired wedding date.
SACRAMENT OF ANOINTING OF
THE SICK AND FUNERAL/BURIAL
ARRANGEMENTS
The Church and her Sacraments
accompany us at every moment of our life. When
we are very sick or nearing the end of this life, we
receive the healing of Christ through Anointing of
the Sick. Please contact the Parish Office, 896-9408,
to make an appointment.
Also, contact the office before you
contact anyone else in making funeral arrangements.
We will lovingly guide you through that most
difficult time.
NEW PARISHIONERS WELCOME
Please fill out a census card (located near the doors
of the church), call the Parish Office or register
online at the church website: www.sprcc.org.

HOLY FATHER’S PRAYER INTENTIONS FOR DECEMBER
UNIVERSAL INTENTION: That the birth of the
Redeemer may bring peace and hope to all people
of good will.
FOR EVANGELIZATION: That parents may be true
evangelizers, passing on to their children the
precious gift of faith.
FATHER LEDOUX’S PRAYER INTENTIONS FOR DECEMBER
WORSHIP: May we take advantage of the Liturgical Season of Advent by praying and reflecting on the Sacred Scriptures at daily Mass
that lead us into anticipation of Jesus coming and that we cleans our hearts from sin in Confession that Christ may find no obstacle
to dwelling within us.
FAITH FORMATION: May the Season of Advent be for parents (and helping their children) a time of anticipation and spiritual preparation
of the heart and mind for the celebration of Jesus Christ's coming on Christmas Day.
EVANGELIZATION: May our Advent Mission "From Fear To Faith” by Gary Zimak ease our worry and anxiety in the days before Christmas
and help us to remain focused in prayer on the hope that Christ desires to bring.
SOCIAL JUSTICE: As we reflect on our blessings this Advent, may they be cause for gratitude to God and lead us to act on Jesus' call:
'Amen, I say to you, whatever you did for one of the least brothers of mine, you did for me.'
BUILDINGS AND FACILITIES: May the results of our Parish Feasibility Study draw us together and unify our determination to restore and
build for our present and future needs.
THE HOLY SEASON OF ADVENT
WHAT IS ADVENT?
Advent, which comes from the Latin word for "arrival" or
"coming," is a period of preparation for the birth of our Lord.
Advent begins four Sundays before Christmas and is the
precursor of the Christmas season, which lasts through the
Baptism of Our Lord, January 13th. The first Sunday of Advent
also marks the beginning of the new liturgical year, the Church's
"New Year's Day," at which time we change the cycle of readings
we are using at Mass.
Advent is a time of joyous anticipation, but also of penance and
preparation for the great Christmas feast. The liturgical color of the
season is violet, a sign of penance, which is also used during Lent.
The Church discourages excessive ornamentation, boisterous
music and even weddings during Advent, in order to foster a sense
of quiet hope and anticipation.
ALTAR SERVERS FOR CHRISTMAS MIDNIGHT MASS
All current Altar Servers are invited to serve
at the Midnight Mass at Christmas. If you
can assist, make plans to attend the training
on Wednesday, December 24th at 11:00am in
the Church. Contact Matt Arceneaux at 2542810 for additional information.
LIGHTING THE ADVENT WREATH IN YOUR HOME
BLESSING OF THE WREATH
O God, by whose word all things are sanctified, pour
forth Thy blessings upon this wreath and grant that
we who use it may prepare our hearts
for the coming of Christ, and may receive from Thee abundant
blessings. We make our prayer through Jesus Christ Our Lord.
Amen.
FOURTH SUNDAY & WEEK OF ADVENT
Pour forth Thy power, O Lord, and Come. Assist us by that Mighty
Power, so that by Thy grace and Merciful Kindness we may swiftly
receive the salvation that our sins impede for Thy live and reign
with God the Father, in the Unity of the Holy Spirit, ever One God,
world without end. Amen.
(With the three, the family now lights the 4th candle - violet)

WANT TO LEARN MORE ABOUT YOUR CATHOLIC FAITH?
LOOKING FOR A GREAT CHRISTMAS GIFT
OR STOCKING STUFFER?
LIGHTHOUSE CATHOLIC MEDIA
At the side entry of our church next to the cry
room, is a stand holding audio CDs which are part
of the Lighthouse Catholic Media. These inspiring
talks on various topics of Catholic life help build
up our own faith in God and our Catholic beliefs
and also better prepare us to share our Catholic faith with others.
Many of us have friends or family who have left the Church. The good
news is that half who come back to the Catholic Faith, do so because
someone gave them a book, pamphlet or CD that rekindled the flame
of their Catholic Faith that burns inside each one of us. Before you
leave today, go by the side entrance and check out our new CDs and
share them with others this Advent and Christmas season!
MERRY CHRISTMAS
As we celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ, Fr. Ledoux
and the Staff of St. Peter, wish all of you a very blessed and
Holy Christmas Season and the love and peace of the Christ Child in the New Year!

BLESSING FOR THE CHRISTMAS CRIB
A Blessing Prayer for When Baby Jesus Is Placed In the Manger
O God of every nation: From the very
beginning of creation you have made
manifest your love: When our need for a
Savior was great, you sent your Son to be
born of the Virgin Mary. To our lives He brings
joy and peace, justice, mercy and love. Lord,
bless all who look upon this manger; may it remind us of the
humble birth of Jesus, and raise up our thought to Him, who is
our Emmanuel and Savior of all, Who lives and reigns for ever and
ever. Amen.

“JESUS, I TRUST IN YOU”
ST. FAUSTINA: "December 23, 1936. I am spending this
time with the Mother of God and preparing myself for the
solemn moment of the coming of the Lord Jesus. The
Mother of God is instructing me in the interior life of the
soul with Jesus, especially in Holy Communion. It is only
in eternity that we shall know the great mystery effected
in us by Holy Communion. O most precious moments of
my life!" (Diary 840)
CHRIST CANDLE OF HOPE PRAYER
Prayer for the Twelve Days of Christmas
God, our loving Father, You sent Your Son,
Jesus Christ, into this world to counter all
the forces of evil: sin, suffering and death,
and to overcome evil with the force of good;
hatred with the power of love, Your great
love for us in Jesus.
Help us never to curse the darkness,
but to join with You in bringing
Your light into this world,
the light that is Your Son,
born of the Virgin Mary, in Bethlehem.
Help us to be instruments of Your light and love by
doing one special act of kindness or by being Your
special instrument of reconciliation this New Year.
May the Christ Candle we light symbolize our desire to
bring light into a world of darkness and hope into a
world of despair.
We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
THE TWELVE DAYS OF CHRISTMAS
From 1558 to 1829, English Catholics were not permitted to practice their faith
openly. During this time, The Twelve Days of Christmas was written in
England as a catechism song for young Catholics. There was a surface
meaning and a hidden meaning known only to Catholics, in which each
element was a symbol for a religious reality, helping the children to remember:
 A partridge in a pear tree: Jesus
 Two turtle doves: Old and New Testaments
 Three French hens: Faith, Hope, and Charily
 Four calling birds: Four Gospels
 Five golden rings: First Five books of the Old Testament
 Six geese a laying: Six days of Creation
 Seven swans a swimming: Seven gifts of the Holy Spirit
 Eight maids a milking: Eight Beatitudes
 Nine ladies dancing: Nine fruits of the Holy Spirit
 Ten lords a leaping: Ten Commandments
 Eleven pipers piping: Eleven faithful Disciples
 Twelve drummers drumming: Twelve points in the Apostles' Creed

O Jesus, Eternal Priest, keep Thy servants within the shelter of Thy
Sacred Heart, where none may harm them. Keep unstained their
anointed hands, which daily touch Thy Sacred Body. Keep unsullied
their lips, purpled with Thy Precious Blood. Keep pure and unearthly
their hearts, sealed with the sublime mark of Thy glorious Priesthood.
Let Thy holy love surround them and shield them from the world’s
contagion. Bless their labors with abundant fruit, and may the souls
to whom they minster be here below their joy and consolation, and in
Heaven their beautiful and everlasting crown. Amen.

We give to the support of the Church, NOT because the Church needs,
but because WE NEED to give back to God a thankful share of what He
has first given to us!
THANK YOU FOR YOUR GENEROUS DONATIONS AND
STEWARDSHIP! BECAUSE OF YOUR GENEROUS SUPPORT,
WE HAVE A WONDERFUL PLACE OF WORSHIP.
A STEWARDSHIP MOMENT – FOURTH SUNDAY OF ADVENT
In today’s Gospel reading we hear proclaimed the story of the Annunciation,
when the angel of the Lord announced to Mary that she would give birth to
Christ through the intercession of the Holy Spirit. Mary allowed God’s
messenger to speak to her. She was attentive, not afraid to enter into a
dialogue, then unconditionally obedient. Mary’s acceptance of this mystery
is a stewardship model for us.
Good stewards remain open to the
incursions of divine life into the normal course of their daily lives. How open
are we to the promptings of the Holy Spirit in our own lives? What might
we do this last week of Advent to be more attentive to the Lord?
YEAR END GIVING
Take a quiet moment from the hustle and bustle
of the Christmas shopping season to consider the
gift St. Peter parish is to your family. Help us
preserve this gift for the present generation and
future generations to come.
A year-end tax deductible contribution to our church parish
has a direct and positive impact on your spiritual life and
people’s lives who look to St. Peter parish as their spiritual home
for their most sacred and cherished events in their lives.
St. Peter is an accredited 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization;
we accept remembrances in your Will, gifts of Property, cash,
Life Insurance cash value and beneficiary designation,
Charitable Gift Annuities, Stocks, Bonds and Mutual Funds.
All contributions are 100% tax deductible.
Your giving is, of course, more than tax
planning. Your gift and investment into Eternal
things makes a huge difference in the lives of
many.
Thank you in advance for your
generosity to our parish!
PARISH FEASIBILITY STUDY RESULTS
As you know, since July of 2014, the parish has been
conducting a Feasibility Study to determine the need for a future Capital
Campaign to address facility improvements in the parish.
Having conducted numerous listening sessions, surveys and
a formal Feasibility Study interview process with parish families, it has
been determined that we are in a favorable position to conduct a
Capital Campaign. Although approval is pending with the Diocese of
Lafayette, the Steering Committee is meeting to begin the organization
of the Capital Campaign.
We wish to thank all those who participated in the activities of
the Feasibility Study as well as Dr. Richard Feutch, Committee
Chairperson, and the feasibility committee for their work and time. The
future is bright at St. Peter's.
You may contact the parish office for more information.
ROSARY FOR PEACE
The Rosary for peace for our country and our soldiers will be
prayed every Thursday before 6:30am Mass.
PRAYER FOR OUR TROOPS
Almighty and eternal God, those who take refuge in You will
be glad and forever will shout for joy. Protect these soldiers
as they discharge their duties. Protect them with the shield of
Your strength and keep them safe from all evil and harm.
May the power of Your love enable them to return home in
safety, that with all who love them, they may ever praise You for Your loving
care. We ask this through Christ our Lord. Amen.
