WELCOME CLUB OF HENDERSON COUNTY DECEMBER 2014 PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE It’s hard to believe that 2014 is quickly coming to an end. With the anticipation of holiday traveling, family gatherings and all the preparation that goes along with these activities, I hope you enjoy them and stay happy and healthy. During 2014 your Board revised the Constitution, ByLaws and Standing Rules for Welcome Club. The members in attendance at our General Meeting approved these changes and the revised information will be published in the 2015 Membership Directory. All members who renew and new members who join Welcome Club by December 31, 2014, will be included in the Directory, as well. The 2015 Membership Directories will be mailed to all renewing and new members in February. On October 21 Welcome Club held our first combined Coffee and Conversation and Annual Meeting at the Hendersonville Historic Courthouse. This event, suggested by one of our members, was well attended. Many good ideas were suggested which will be discussed at upcoming Board meetings. A vote was taken and members in attendance unanimously elected for a 2 year term, 2015 - 2017, President, Harriet Stafford, Treasurer, Diane Fitzgerald and Membership Chair, Sue Hatch. To round out the Board, the following appointed positions are: Mary Boteilho, Charity Liaison and Leah Cosoi, Shadow, Betsy Tibbs, Newsletter Editor. Lorraine Greco, Coffee and Conversation chair, has agreed to continue in this position for 2015. Thanks to Ingrid Mahler for her contributions as co-chair during 2014. The combined meeting culminated with a raffle and a $25.00 gift certificate to Day in the Country was won by Nancy Chiarenza. Your Board has discussed the issue of having speakers at Coffee and Conversations. It was decided to not have any speakers as members enjoy coming to Coffee and Conversations to visit and eat. The Holiday Luncheon on December 5 is filled up. This event has limited seating, so if you want to attend contact Patty Small to see if you can be on the waiting list. See the flyer in this newsletter for additional information. In addition to a 50/50 raffle, each attendee who brings a donation to Books for Good will be entered into a separate raffle and an opportunity to win a special gift bag. Please bring a book, CD, VHS tape or DVD which will help our 2014 Charity, Feed the Kids Coalition. The last Coffee and Conversation of the year will be on December 16, 10:00 AM at the home of Lorraine Greco. Please see the separate article in this newsletter for more details. As of the end of October, our total combined financial and in-kind gifts was $ 2,435.00. Due to Welcome Club's efforts in providing books, original CD's and VHS tapes, a check in the amount of $ 79.46 was presented to FTKC from Books For Good. Welcome Club will continue to collect books, original CD's and VHS tapes at our Holiday Luncheon on December 5th. PLEASE remember to bring your donations to the final event for 2014. For members who bring a donation to the Holiday Luncheon, you will receive one entry for a "special raffle prize" drawing. A collection box will be available for your donations. This is such as easy way for each of us to contribute to the financial success of Feed The Kids Coalition. As always, I want to thank each and every member for their continued support of our annual Charity. The slate of Charities for 2015 and a description of these Charities is found on your renewal membership application. In order for your vote to count, you must renew no later than December 31, 2014.
