The Channel Partner Program framework simplifies the way we do business together and offers you differentiated
rewards based on the value you deliver to customers and Symantec. The Channel Partner Program offers four
membership tiers: Registered, Silver, Gold and Platinum. Partners advance membership tiers by achieving solution
and delivery-based Symantec Competencies and by meeting other defined Program requirements.
Through achievement of Symantec Competencies, partners will have access to rewards and benefits based on the
following criteria:
Capability: Sales, Marketing, Technical Pre-Sales, Post Sales, and Consulting capabilities that map to the
customer sales cycle.
Performance: Achievement against defined revenue targets.
Customer Evidence: The service levels partners provide, measured through verified Customer Competency
References and by customer satisfaction survey responses.

COMPETENCIES
Competencies are at the heart of Symantec’s Partner Program and are designed to recognize and reward your
expertise and the value you deliver to customers. Certain benefits to help you build competitive advantage, improve
recognition and develop your business are accessible only through Symantec Competencies.
COMPETENCY LEVELS
There are two levels of competency, Principal and Expert. By passing relevant tests and meeting defined revenue and
customer evidence requirements, partners can first achieve Principal and then Expert Competency status.
Principal Competency: Partners with Principal Competency represent the capability, expertise, and commitment to
deliver Symantec solutions. These partners have completed the required training and exams associated with a given
competency; have achieved Symantec-defined minimum revenue targets; have met customer evidence requirements;
and have satisfied other defined requirements as outlined in Symantec Partner Program and Symantec Competency
Supplements. Partners with Principal level Competencies have access to core sales and marketing resources and
transactional benefits to help you grow your business.
Expert Competency: Partners with Expert level Competencies are committed to delivering customer value and have
the capability to demonstrate expertise in delivering Symantec technology at each state of the customer sales cycle
and are able to provide a comprehensive customer experience.
Expert Competency attainment is based on an Expert Validation Process
that examines a partner’s capabilities, customer’s satisfaction, and
performance. Partners with Expert level Competencies have access
to a richer set of sales and marketing resources and strategic
financial benefits to help accelerate partner sales, growth,
and profitability.
The number of achieved Principal and/or Expert
Competencies you possess helps to determine your
Partner Program Membership Tier and also applies
to your eligibility for financial and other benefits.

Partners attaining the Mid-Market Backup and Recovery Competency offer enterpriseclass data protection solutions for SMB and mid-market firms that keep management
cost down while providing high functionality - especially as they increase their use of

Partners attaining the Endpoint Security Competency deliver endpoint protection to

PARTNER PROGRAM MEMBERSHIP TIERS AND REQUIREMENTS
Through the achievement of competencies, partners can progress through our Program’s four membership tiers:
Registered, Silver, Gold and Platinum. The competency-based Partner Program rewards you for your dedication and
commitment to developing your capabilities and provides you with enhanced rewards as you grow with us.
Symantec Partner Program Tiers:
As a Registered tier partner, you’ve taken the first step in building your partnership with Symantec.
You have access to core benefits, training and tools to help you build the knowledge and solutions-expertise you need to address your customers’ unique business challenges. Registered status within the Partner Program does not require competency achievement.
As a Silver tier partner, you have progressed beyond the Registered tier and have achieved at least one
Principal Competency.
You have access to transactional benefits including Opportunity Registration and Margin Builder to help support your growth and to enhanced sales, marketing and technical benefits that will help you further develop the skills required to reach new customers.
As a Gold tier partner, you have invested in your Symantec partnership through the achievement of at least one
Expert Competency. You also demonstrate validated proficiency in delivering customer satisfaction.
Gold tier partners who have invested in growing beyond Principal level Competency to achieve Expert Competency in one or more solution areas will have access to a richer set of financial benefits, including:
• Enhanced Symantec Opportunity Registration benefits designed to drive new customer acquisition
• Symantec Growth Accelerator Rebate designed to reward your performance and help you drive
business growth
• Symantec Partner Development Funds designed to support your business development and
marketing activities
