President's 25th Message Will there be a Holiday Miracle for Autumn

People for Animals League… still dedicated to the humane treatment of animals in local communities.
President’s 25th Message
25 years ago a vision became a dream and a dream became a reality. PAL held it’s first
official meeting on November, 1989. A small group of people met with the mission of helping
animals in our local communities. Thousands of homeless cats are now living in loving homes
because of PAL.
We continue to achieve our mission because of a small group of very dedicated volunteers.
Our animals are fortunate to receive excellent veterinary support from VCA Wickaboag
Animal Hospital, Sturbridge Veterinary Hospital and Becker Veterinary Clinic. And best of all,
PAL continues to be supported by a generous and kind group of friends, donors and adopters.
Some friends gave me a PAL scrapbook which is filled with many memories of the past 25
years. The scrapbook contains hundreds of pictures of animals that have passed through the
shelter. It is a special gift that I will always treasure. PAL’s gift to the animals is a new family
with whom they can share their love and companionship.
Happy Holidays!
Sandy
Will there be a Holiday Miracle for Autumn and Max? Reduced
Autumn and Max have tested positive for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV).
They are both healthy and do not require any medication or special veterinary care.
FIV+ cats can live long normal lives.
Adoption
Fee… $50
Autumn is a 3 year old spayed female, FIV+
She has been at the shelter for over a year waiting for that special person to take her
home and love her.
Autumn “chirps” with happiness when you visit with her and is a happy girl. She can
still be a little shy initially, but warms up once she feels comfortable and really enjoys
being pet. She is quite playful during the day and will curl up and sleep with you at
night. Autumn does not like other cats and must be your one and only. We are hoping
that someone will provide a home - and a better life - for this pretty tortoiseshell cat.
Max is a 2 year old neutered male, FIV+
Max spent the first two years of his life outside until he moved himself into his caretakers home.
He shows NO interest in going back outside.
Max loves people – loves laps – loves attention. He is a brawny fella with fur that looks like a
mink. His foster home would gladly keep him except that he does not get along with their other
cats. He is currently being kept in a separate room in the house. Max needs a home where he can
be the feline “king of his domain.” Does your castle need a king?
Thank you for
saving our little girl.
Hallie puts a smile
on my face every
day! Stacy S.
Chester wanted
to say hi! We
both miss you…
hope all is well.

The boys are getting so big. Chara is a fatty and eats all
the time... and even tries to eat the dog’s food. Theo is
still a hellion, gets into every thing, wrecks everything,
opens doors, and is very smart. Both guys are very loving
and they like to sleep together. How cute are they! Lori
Gidget's new
name is Nita.
She is a total
LOVE. Thank
you. Tina and
Louie
Isn't Esme gorgeous? She is really loving and friendly. She sleeps with us every night. She
even sits on the desk when I am working on my computer. She is clearly my cat and bonded
to me. She is the most unusual cat - she sleeps on her back all the time and when she grooms
herself and even when she sleeps sometimes, she props herself up on her hind legs - it is a
riot - it's like she has no bones and she is like Raggedy Ann. No matter how many times I
see her do this, I laugh. Tess
Just to let you know, I have decided to like my new mommy and daddy. It has taken me a
little while to train then to do the things I want. As you can see in the pictures I have taken my
daddy's pillow he used when he had cancer. He no longer need it so now it is mine. Mommy
has learned when she comes home from work the first thing she has to do is set in her rocker
and love me for a few minutes. I hope all my friends have been as lucky as me I love my new
home. Sending love to all my friends as well as you Sandy. Oh! Thank you for loving me
until my new family found me. Love from Molly
Just wanted to let you
know Ellie is loving her
new home. She follows
me everywhere and has
so much energy when it
comes to playtime. She always puts a smile
on my face! Thanks again, Erin
Still inseparable! Kasey is usually
Dundee’s pillow! They are 9 now. We've
had a few health issues this past year, but
they are doing well. Mostly, they give us
tons of love and affection. They still
demand hugs and laps, follow me around
getting underfoot, and 'talk' a lot! Hope all is going well. Lois
As you can see, Daisy (aka Olivia) the
Tortie, loves her big brother Cheeto. We
adopted Cheeto from PAL along with his
sister Rosie about 2 years ago. Sadly,
Rosie passed away last year and left
Cheeto very lonely. So we contacted PAL
and adopted Daisy! She is the most loving cat we ever had and she
loves her brother especially. They chase each other and play and
sleep together. Thank you PALS for all you do! The DeBoers
Diamond now Lana is
doing great in her new
home. Was scared and
hiding on top of the
microwave or under the
bed at first but by evening
she was already hanging
out on my lap and climbing on the cat tree. Her
first night in her new home. Joe W.
Norman has become such a
wonderful companion and follows
me around the house. Really
cuddly and loving with lots of head butts. At night
before bed, Norman will take a piece of my blanket
from my bed into his mouth and then proceed to
march and kneed around in circles while continuing
to keep the blanket in his mouth. Here’s a pic of the
"boys" watching the birds in the back yard. Jean-Marie
Wilma has completely settled in...our two year old has insisted on calling her Cinderella, which she doesn't seem
to mind. She has made a great addition to the family! She's great with the kids, has no fear of our dog, and is
making fast friends with our older cat Tedy. Tedy is like a young cat again, playing with and chasing little
Cinderella! The two now make a great team whether it's chasing each other or stalking us until we get them their
wet food :-) I am so happy that you were once again able to provide us with the perfect addition to our family…
Cinderella is sitting on my feet as we speak! Thanks again! Meghan and family
Leroy is enjoying his new
home. He especially likes when
we are on the back porch and he
watches the birds to his hearts
content. Sarah S.
Nellie (Aviva) and Leo (Chris) are doing
fabulously. Nellie is still very curious, but
she is far more laid-back than her very
energetic brother. She is our hunter, and
has caught 2 mice. Leo is full of spunk,
he is a trouble maker, but he is also our
cuddler! Jessica H.
Finley is a very happy little boy! Teddy and Finley became friends quite quickly. Teddy has definitely
taken on the role of Big Brother and loves to show Finley how to do things. Teddy does say that
Finley has way too much energy and sometimes has to remind him to back off during naptime.
Thanks for all the work you do. Florence and Brian
Your Cat May Own You If….
I just wanted to give you a quick update on Sammy. He is
doing great! He came right in and made himself at home in no
time at all. He has claimed all the window ledges, the arm of
the couch and the end of the bed as his favorite spots and he
has no problem speaking up as soon as he empties his food
dish. He is a great cat with quite the personality, it is really
nice to have him around. Thanks for all that you do! Christine
October 23 - Today is the 5-year anniversary of picking
up this "super nice fella" as your flyer described him, and
yesterday was the third anniversary of Patachou joining
us. They are healthy and we all are happy! I'm attaching
three pictures--aren't they the best?! Jacques is my knight
in shining armor and she is my little golden princess.
Thank you for all that you do. Love, Catherine
Here's a picture of the kitties. We're loving them so much!
They're little love bugs and super hyper!! We called them
Bella and Shadow. Shadow was a little timid and nervous
when we first brought him home, now he's opened way up
and adventurous. Bella chases anything that moves!! Cindy
You give your cat presents and
a stocking at Christmas.
You do not admit to non-cat owners
how many cats you really have.
You have more than four opened
but rejected cans of cat food
in the refrigerator.
You climb out of bed over the
headboard or footboard, so you
won't disturb the sleeping cat.
You stand at the open door in the
freezing rain while your cat decides
whether to stay in or go out.
You would rather spend a night
at home with your cat than
go out on a bad date.
