News from the Astwell Benefice
JOY TO THE WORLD – THE LORD HAS
COME!
Our journey through Advent is almost over and we
now join with millions all over the world and
celebrate our Lord’s Birth.
As it says in the carol:
“E’en so here below, below,
Let steeple bells be swungen
And i-o,i-o,i-o,
By priest and people sungen!
Gloria, Hosanna in the Highest”.
And here in the Astwell Benefice, thanks to our
great bell ringers, our bells will be swungen and I
know this priest will be joining her people as we
sing together in celebration of this
very special time.
I hope to see you over the Christmas period to
wish you a very Happy Christmas either at one or
more of our services or at the ‘Open House’ at The
Rectory on Monday 22nd December.
My prayers are for us all to have a healthy and
rewarding New Year as we grow together in the
love of Christ, and this Christmas my special
prayer for all of us echoes the words of
my favourite carol:
What can I give him, poor as I am?
If I were a shepherd I would bring a lamb.
If I were a wise man I would do my part,
Yet what can I give him?
Give my heart.
May the Lord God, the heavenly babe, receive all
our hearts this blessed Christmas time.
Amen
Rev’d Carole
