Career & Technology
Ms. Banna
Happy December to all! Students in Kindergarten had a great time sharing their “All about Me” book and
in the process learned lot about each other. The students have now started sharing their “Me Bags” in class.
Over the next several days, students will take turns sharing their bags with the class and talking a bit about
themselves. This activity will not only further help students learn important information about each other, it
will also help them practice essential skills such as public speaking, listening, and staying focused. Thank
you to all the parents for responding so promptly to the “Me Bags” instructions! The students are doing an
excellent job sharing their bags!
The First Graders will continue to work on the unit of Community Helpers. This month our focus is on
teachers and letter carriers. Our friends are continuing to work in groups and utilize the “CAN-AREHAVE” chart to sort out data and information as we go over each type of community helper. They will also
utilize laptops this month to create their own “CAN-ARE-HAVE” charts in Microsoft Word to harness their
learning.
The Second, Third, Fourth, and Fifth Grade classes have now started their work on a 3 step activity called
“Me in the Future” which will take place over the next couple of days. In this activity, students will understand the meaning and importance of being a successful professional in the future. Their task is to imagine
themselves as people who are successful and competent in the future. Students will think about what they
would be if they could be anything, or do anything they wanted, when they grow up. Class discusses what
students can do and what skills are important to become the type of people they have identified.
Students
will then illustrate and write a story called “Me in 20 Years.” Students will use a laptop to type the final
draft of their story in class. As a result, a lesson on computer/laptop usage and internet safety will be incorporated as an extension to this activity.
All grades will continue to learn about the importance of jobs and the concept that personal responsibility as well as good work habits is expected from them in school and ultimately in any career that
they enter.

or afternoon bus, which focused on the following areas:
Making good choices
Being in their seat at all times
Keeping seatbelt on at all times
Keeping hands and feet to themselves
Parents please continue to be supportive with staff as they work hard trying to hold students accountable for their actions. It is very important that we receive support from you.
Spotlight- 4th and 5th grade students were invited to a college basketball game between St. Johns
University and Niagara University on December 2nd at 7pm. The total number of students that
showed up was 32, and a number of parents were there as well. I would like to thank all of the staff
