Deacon Ferdie provided a Roast of Prime Rib, that came with it’s own carver/server/chef, along with all the trimmings, mashed potatoes, cooked & fresh vegetables, plus desserts. While the residents ate their dinner, Kumu Keith Haugen and the School’s Choir & Guests provided Christmas Carols for them. When dinner was completed the man in the red suit appeared and everyone, both residents and SOS parishioners, got a chance to ask Santa for that special gift this year. Commissioning of our Parish Lectors On Monday, December 8th, during the 5:30 pm Mass on the Feast of the Immaculate Conception, Fr. Frankie commissioned our Parish Lectors. Like our Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion, who are re-commissioned yearly during the Holy Thursday Evening Mass, the Lectors were asked which day they would choose for their commissioning, and the Feast of the Immaculate Conception was chosen, because they felt that Mary’s Fiat, “I am the handmaid of the Lord, may it be done to me according your word,” expressed their own feelings of being called to proclaim the Word. Since this was the first commissioning of our Lectors, Fr. Frankie hoped that this could become an annual event like the re-commissioning of the Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion. 3 December 21, 2014 Fourth Sunday of Advent “Mother’s and Babies”, ELC Christmas, Angel Voices “Whoever Welcomes This Little Child in MY NAME, Welcomes ME”………Luke 9: 48 As we await the Birth of Christ this Advent Season, The Mothers of Star of the Sea are collecting Baby Gifts for Needy Mothers and Babies who have found shelter at the Mary Jane Home. Others have found caring support at the Pearson Pro Life Pregnancy Center, where teens & women who are experiencing a crisis pregnancy are counseled to keep their babies and Respect the LIFE of their child. Their goal is to be able to purchase an Ultrasound Machine, to show a woman her Baby…. Growing & Very Much Alive inside her womb! I could see us Praising God through Charismatic Worship at Star of the Sea! Fast forward to 2012…..The Holy Spirit put it upon my heart to start a Charismatic Prayer Group. With lots of prayer and hard work, together with Fr. Frankie’s Blessing, the SOS Charismatic Prayer Group was born in August 2013. We thank the Holy Spirit for providing us with a few dedicated musicians and prayer warriors! Through the Grace of God, our church has been blessed to introduce Uplifting Charismatic Music during the 5:30 pm Sunday Mass. God wants us to be Joyful in our Praise to Him!” “My personal testimony includes discovering my first Charismatic Conference in Honolulu. I attended alone, and boy was it an EYE-OPENER! As a “Cradle Catholic” I never knew that Çatholics could ALSO Praise God Charismatically! The Words of the Beautiful songs touched the depths of my heart & soul. When the Prayer Team prayed over me, through Laying on of Hands, I could feel the Holy Spirit & the tears began to flow. I knew that God was Cleansing & Renewing me. Through embracing God’s Unconditional Love through the Holy Spirit, it has helped me to gain a new and profound Appreciation of the Holy Eucharist, Jesus Himself, and the love and mercy which comes from Our Blessed Mother. You too can feel the Power of the Holy Spirit in your daily lives!
