Alberta is getting tough on impaired drivers - you will be caught! Driving while impaired by drugs and refusing to comply with a demand for physical sobriety tests or to provide bodily fluid samples is a criminal offense. You do not have to be legally drunk to be charged with impaired driving. Make the right choice for everyone – don’t drive if you have been drinking or using drugs. Drivers who choose to drive impaired face not only the possibility of killing themselves, their friends or someone else, but also very serious legal, financial, social and other consequences. Plan ahead for safe transportation. There are alternatives to impaired driving. If you encounter a suspected impaired driver, record the vehicle license plate number and dial 911 anywhere in the province. You have a lot to lose: your freedom, job, dignity, or even your life. Wishing Everyone a Safe & Happy Holiday! 403.886.4567 www.townofpenhold.ca Page 3 403.886.4567 www.townofpenhold.ca Page 4 Development Department Monthly Permit List Date Permit Address Project 20-Oct-14 2014157 #4, 9 HAWRIDGE BLVD Commercial Retail 21-Oct-14 2014158 26 HERITAGE DRIVE Basement Development 21-Oct-14 2014159 8 HANSON GREEN Basement Development 23-Oct-14 2014160 36 HENDERSON CRES Variance 27-Oct-14 2014161 14 HARVEST CLOSE Basement Development 29-Oct-14 2014162 1201 FLEMING AVE Multi-Family Dwelling 5-Nov-14 2014163 108 HOLLMAN CLOSE Single Family Dwelling 6-Nov-14 2014164 940 FLEMING AVE Industrial Development 10-Nov-14 2014165 19 HENDERSON CRES Single Family Dwelling 13-Nov-14 2014166 13 HANSON GREEN Single Family Dwelling 13-Nov-14 2014167 129-133 HAWKRIDGE BLVD Multi-Family Dwelling 13-Nov-14 2014168 115-121 HAWKRIDGE BLVD Multi-Family Dwelling 13-Nov-14 2014169 147-151 HAWKRIDGE BLVD Multi-Family Dwelling 13-Nov-14 2014170 91-95 HAWKRIDGE BLVD Multi-Family Dwelling 13-Nov-14 2014171 #106, 9 HAWKRIDGE BLVD Sign Permit 14-Nov-14 2014172 15 HEALEY CLOSE Single Family Dwelling 403.886.4567 www.townofpenhold.ca Page 5 403.886.4567 www.townofpenhold.ca Page 6 Public Works Department Town of Penhold Snow Removal Notice Our Public Works staff make every effort to ensure that our streets are clear of snow and ice during the winter months. Please be patient as we complete this process. Snow plowing and/or removal on streets will be started after a heavy snowfall (15cm) or once accumulations have reached 15cm. The priority areas are as follows: Priority one includes main thoroughfares and bus routes. Priority two are Businesses, Streets and Avenues. Priority three are Closes, Courts and Places – these are cleared once all other major areas are complete. Alleys are not listed as a priority and are maintained only for the use of -garbage trucks. Should alleyways become impassable they may be cleared as time permits. This process may take two weeks or longer depending on snow fall, conditions and work load. Should another 15cm of snow accumulate during the snow removal process, priorities will shift back to one and two. For a map of the priority areas please look on our website at www.townofpenhold.ca. Public Works makes every attempt to notify residents of intent to clear snow. Time permitting; signs are normally placed alongside the street 12 hours in advance. Please be courteous to town staff as well as your neighbours by refraining from parking on the road during the hours posted. Attempts will be made to contact the registered owner of the vehicles, but note that vehicles are considered towable if they are not in accordance with the posted street sign (Use of Highway and Rules of the Road Regulation, Alta Reg. 304/2002 Sec. 44(n)). Snow will be windrowed until removal is possible. Where applicable, snow will be windrowed to the side of the street without a sidewalk. Please use extra care when approaching snow removal equipment as visibility is limited and equipment may stop and/or back up suddenly. Please also consider neighbours and delivery people by clearing your sidewalks. Snow must be removed within 72 hours of any snowfall (Traffic Bylaw 630/06 Sec. 18 a & b). Snow that is cleaned off sidewalks and driveways cannot be deposited onto the road. Toddlers are learning to be independent and may become assertive as well as resistant to their parents. Once they become more mobile they touch and do things they aren't supposed to do and refuse to listen to the word “no”. Children need simple rules for their safety and to help them learn to make friends. Here are some tips to help prevent disobedience: When problem behavior is occurring, get their attention. Get close to them and at their eye level, then use their name so they know you’re talking to them. Hold your child’s hands firmly, say “no” in a firm but calm voice, frown and shake your head from side to side. Pause and give your child time to start doing what you have asked. 5 seconds is enough time, stay close and watch your child. Give praise if they do as you asked. If they whimper or cry after being told “no” ignore them. Wait for a pause in their crying, thank them for being quiet and try to involve them in an activity. Toddler proof your home, have plenty of activities available for your child and encourage behavior you like. If you would like some more information on tips for toddlers or preschoolers, please email [email protected].
