My Dear Friends,
his season of Christmas and New Year is an
opportunity to thank each of our parishioners for
their support and love. I am so blessed to be the pastor of
both St. Ann and St. Mark in such a wonderful Catholic
Community. When I was pastor of St. Hugh of Cluny
Parish in Philadelphia (West Kensington), I was asked
three times to move to other parishes . . . two in
Philadelphia and one in Puerto Rico. Each time, I
declined. When asked by the Vicar for Clergy in January
2003, where do you want to go, I said “Bristol,” never
thinking I would be here. In God’s plan, our dear Father
Frank Lewis was taken home to the Lord in March and
shortly thereafter, I was contacted by the Archbishop and
installed as pastor of St. Mark.
Father Jim Olson, who was here with me in 1990-91,
said that Bristol and Fr. Mooney was a good match, like a
hand and glove. This has been for me the best fit! Bristol
is a wonderful town and the people so warm and caring . . .
people with whom I have shared times of joy and sorrow.
Today, I am see children who I baptized now going to
college and couples at whose marriages I officiated with
two or three children. Ours is a growing and strong parish
with so many gifted, generous and talented members. I am
a member of most of the societies in Bristol; A.O.H.,
Bristol Lions, Knights of Columbus, BCHF, Men of St.
Mark, Celtic Heritage Foundation, Catholic Men of
Mexico, but I could not join the Catholic Daughters.
I hope to spend the rest of my ministry here and maybe
one day to bury my heart here in St. Mark Cemetery with
my Bristol Family and my body at Resurrection Cemetery
with my family. My heart is here and will always be here.
I thank each of you for making me feel like a Bristolian.
God’s blessing on each of you, my friends and family.
A Blessed New Year!

World Meeting of Families
Philadelphia, September 2015
Many people have asked "How can I help with the
World Meeting of Families - Philadelphia 2015?"
We expect thousands of visitors from around the world
to join us next September and there is now a host family
program to supplement the hotel rooms in the region. The
World Meeting is need of a number of host families!
Homestay, a Dublin company, works to match host
families with visitors with an online system and they
created a special online host family site just for WMOF
2015.
Parishioners, school families, and other area residents
can easily sign up online to be host families. Hosts list
specific accommodations they can offer such as household
rules and language preferences on the web site and
potential hosts are able to search for a suitable match.
