♦ CHASE REACHES 130 M.P.H.
A Rome man was booked into the Bartow County Jail and later
transferred to Floyd County. Deavonti Davel Daniel, 28, Rome,
was driving a Dodge Challenger when Bartow Deputies tried to stop
him on U.S. 411 toward Rome. A chase began and ended on the
Rome Bypass. Daniel's car reached speeds of 130 mph. He stopped
his car in Floyd County and ran from Floyd Co. Police. He is
charged with D.U.I., driving while license withdrawn, fleeing and
attempting to elude, reckless driving, failure to drive within single
lane, open container, no insurance, speeding 130 in a 65 mph zone.
♦ MOVING TRUCK AND CAR STOLEN
A couple moving to Florida were spending Saturday night at the
Econolodge, Highway 20 Spur. They found their U-Haul loaded
with all their belongings and a 2012 Red Honda Civic that was being pulled by the U-Haul gone. Nicole Cowser said the items are
worth over $30,000.
♦ BIG BATTERY TAKEN FROM PHONE CO.
Bartow County Sheriff's Deputies were called to AT&T property at 24 Busch Drive Saturday morning. Someone broke into a
power supply box and took a battery and a power converter. The
battery weighs 110 pounds and is about 3 inches wide and 2 feet
long. Both items are made for AT&T and are unique. They're worth
over $4,000.
