STOLEN VEHICLE LEADS TO A CHOP SHOP
On December 4th, 2014, around 11:00 pm the Dawson Creek RCMP Crime Reduction
Unit located a stolen Ford F350 pickup from Grande Prairie. A 37 year old male from
Edmonton was located driving the truck and has been charged with one count of
possession of property over $5000.00. Several associates were located with the male who
were also arrested but released without charge pending further investigation. A search of
the individuals and vehicle resulted in the seizure of a small quantity of crystal meth.
Based in part on information gleaned from the investigation of the stolen truck police
executed a series of three search warrants at a rural property on 217 Road. During the
course of executing the warrants police located a stolen snowmobile and trailer from
Clairmont Alberta, a second stolen trailer and oilfield related equipment from Spirit
River area. Police located an additional stolen Ford F250 pickup truck from Grande
Prairie that had been cut into pieces and parted out onto another Ford pickup truck on the
property.
Inside a shop on the property police located tools and other equipment that were stolen
from as far away as Crankbrook, Edmonton, and Pink Mountain. Police located two dead
deer and an elk on the property that the BC Conservation Office is investigating.
Inside the residence police located two prohibited devices, a large quantity of marijuana,
a stolen restricted firearm, and an additional 12 firearms that were seized as nobody on
the property had a valid firearms
licence.

THE PEACE FM VAULTS
HAVE BEEN OPENED
The PeaceFM vault contest has come to a close.
Between both vaults there were over $7,000 in
prizes going to two lucky families.
The Dawson Creek vault was opened by Faye
Knott on Wednesday, December 17th, and the
Chetwynd vault was opened by Florence
Courtoreille on Friday, December 19th.

This is an ongoing investigation and police may lay several additional charges against multiple suspects who cannot be
named at this time.
Police have identified eight separate victims of theft and returned numerous items to their rightful owners. Police stress to
all individuals and companies to engrave their personal belongings including tools, equipment, and tidy tanks, with a
means for them to be identifiable to police if stolen.

2014 TAXES, UTILITIES AND HOME OWNER GRANTS
The District of Chetwynd office will be closed from
12:00 noon on December 24, 2014 until 8:00 a.m. on December 29, 2014 and
from 1:00 p.m. on December 31, 2014 until 8:00 a.m. on January 2, 2015.
If you are eligible for a Home Owner Grant and have not claimed the grant for the 2014
taxation year, please apply before 1:00 p.m. on December 31, 2014. You do not need to
make a payment to apply for a Home Owner Grant.
Your bank may pay your property taxes, however they can't claim your Home Owner
Grant. Please ensure you have either claimed the grant or paid the equivalent amount.
If you have an outstanding balance in Current Taxes or Utilities on January 2, 2015, the
balance will be transferred to taxes in arrears. Taxes in arrears on January 2, 2015 will be
transferred to delinquent taxes. Taxes in arrears and delinquent will accrue interest at the
rate prescribed by the Provincial Government, currently 6.00%. The interest rate is
subject to change.
