Saint Gabriel’s 8th Grade
Students Get Ready
for Christmas
Many thanks to the 8th grade students and their
teacher Ms. Griffin for all the work they put in to prepare Saint Gabriel church for Christmas.
First they sorted and bagged over 300 gifts which
parishioners donated for children served by the Port
Ministries and also for Veterans hospitalized at the Jesse
Brown VA Hospital. They also assisted the drivers by
bringing the bags outside for loading in the delivery vehicles. The Giving Tree was a project that the 8th grade
has traditionally worked on for the parish. These students made the ornaments, decorated the tree and then
sorted and bagged the gifts.
After that task was completed a celebration was held
with a Pizza lunch.
After lunch the students began to decorate the huge
nativity scene. The students then washed pews and
cleaned the rest of church. Thank you to this years
eighth graders and the work you do for Saint Gabriel
Parish!

! ,$$ ). The entire Santa Lucia Family gathered together to
celebrate the feast of their patron saint at two special
masses. The Feast of St. Lucy takes place on December 13th. On Friday the 12th, the students joined with
the parish in an all school mass honoring St. Lucy.
Rylee Heeter, one of the 2nd graders, dressed as St.
Lucy and gave a short story of her life. Because it also
was the feast day of Our Lady of Guadalupe, 6th grader Jillian Alberto, gave a talk on this patron saint of the
Americas. To further honor St. Lucy the entire 1st
grade wore the crown of candles, a traditional symbol
of St. Lucy.
There is inside you all of the potential to be whatever
