“MIPIM Open stage” competition
Terms and conditions
ITEM 1: SUBJECT
Reed MIDEM, whose registered office is at 27-33 Quai
Alfonse le Gallo, 92100 Boulogne-Billancourt, registered with
the Nanterre Trade and Companies Register under the
number 662 003 557 is the official organizer of the “MIPIM
Open stage” competition.
The “MIPIM Open stage” competition (application process,
reception of the projects and selection of the Winners), as
set up by Reed MIDEM, is an international competition open
to everyone and will focus on the impact of Big and Open
Data in the Real Estate Market.
The MIPIM team is looking for the brightest and talented
minds, who can present their ideas in a creative and
inventive way to the audience of MIPIM 2015 participants,
constituted of property market leaders: investors,
developers, corporate end-users, cities & local authorities.
The first edition of the “MIPIM Open stage” competition will
take place during MIPIM 2015 from 10 March to 13 March
2015 at Palais des festivals, Cannes, France.
ITEM 2: PARTICIPATION IN MIPIM OPEN STAGE
COMPETITION
2.1 CRITERIAS OF PARTICIPATION
The “MIPIM Open stage” competition is open to any
individual or legal entity around the world, interested in the
property market, who wants to share his ideas on Big and
Open Date in the Real Estate Market, his talents of speaker
and who fits the criteria indicated below. The individual
applying on the MIPIM Open stage represents his group.
Each Applicant must:
- Be available during the entire MIPIM 2015’s period
(10/03/2015 to 13/03/2015 included).
- Choose a topic that is relevant to “Big and Open Data :
the impact on the property industry”
- Feel comfortable with speaking in front of a large
audience.
- Register online between 17 November and 17 December
2014 to submit his session proposal (the “Session
proposal”), which is composed of the speakers’ names, the
title and the description of the idea. The Applicant may
attach one (1) relevant document as an interesting case
study explanation (PowerPoint, PDF, etc…). In order to
register online, the Applicant may either:
o
Use his Facebook or Google+ log in
authentication,
o Create a user account with his name/pseudo and
his email address.
- Accept without reserve or modifications the “Privacy
policy” and the “security and compliance” of UserVoice,
which provides the online platform and corresponding
services during the competition.
- Confirm availability of any additional speaker included in
the Session proposal before its submission, with a
maximum of 4 speaker(s) per session (including the
moderator). If the speaker(s) is/are not confirmed, Reed
MIDEM reserves the right to choose another submitted
Session proposal having a lower ranking.
By entering in the competition, the Applicant:
- Guarantees that he is the sole initiator together with
possible co-authors and warrants that he holds all the
rights for each presented Session proposal and
information related to each Session proposal and that he
does not harm any potentially involved third party’s rights
or anyone’s private life or likeness, and that the Session
proposal does not infringe any law, especially copyright
laws;
- Recognizes that Reed MIDEM may have already received
ideas similar to those submitted and that these may be in
development. Reed MIDEM cannot be held liable towards
the Applicants for infringement of intellectual property in
ideas that are submitted either by themselves or by third
parties.
2.2 CONDITIONS OF PARTICIPATION
There is no cost for entering the competition.
The Applicants submit their Session proposals on the
UserVoice platform during the competition. Therefore, Reed
MIDEM cannot accept any responsibility for lost entries due
to internet and/or technical problems related to the use of
the Uservoice platform and/or internet.
Reed MIDEM’s Employees as well as their family members
or any of Reed MIDEM’s affiliates or subsidiaries, are
ineligible to be Applicants in the “MIPIM Open stage”
competition.
Reed MIDEM reserves the right to reject any written/visual
Session proposal or application should its content be
perceived, as deliberately interfering with honour and
human dignity, with anyone’s rights, pornographic, racist,
provocative, discriminatory or violent, or as having
commercial or promotional aim, for the benefit of a
company. Reed MIDEM reserves its rights in case of any
infringement of this kind. The submitted applications cannot
be withdrawn from the competition once they have been
submitted, except in case of force majeure or such
infringement as defined hereinabove.
Reed MIDEM reserves its right to validate the submitted
Session proposals/Winning Proposals by application, should
the need arise, of MIPIM General Tradeshow Rules to the
Applicant/Winner (e.g. for legitimate grounds, such a
dispute etc.)
The Winner (the moderator and 3 speakers) of the present
competition, not registered at MIPIM 2015 by January 7th
2015, will benefit of 1 free registration per person and shall
comply with the applicable MIPIM General Tradeshow Rules.
ITEM 3: SELECTION PROCCESS RULES
The Session proposal shall focus on a topic that is relevant
to “Big and Open Data: the impact on the property
industry”.
Everyone may access to the UserVoice platform hosting the
MIPIM Open stage competition, in order to vote for one or
many Session proposal(s). The voters may cast five (5)
votes among the Session proposals. Then the voters’
decision on the selected Session proposal is final and
without appeal.
The most voted Session proposal will be selected. At the end
of the vote period (17 December 2014), one (1) Winner is
going to be determined according to the ranking of the
votes.
Reed MIDEM will inform the Winner of his status by email by
7 January 2015. The timeslot of the Winning Session
proposal shall be confirmed later. Reed MIDEM reserves the
right to change the timing of the session.
Reed MIDEM expects from the Winner to give at MIPIM 2015
a 1 hour session (presentation, panel, workshop, etc…).
Within this context, the Winner will have the opportunity to
share their ideas about the chosen subject in front of a large
audience of professionals.
In this respect, the Winner will need to arrive in Cannes at
least the day before the session for technical rehearsals.
ITEM 4: THE GAIN
If not registered on 7 January 2015, the Winner, and
session participants will get a free registration to
MIPIM 2015 for this purpose, including the access to the
MIPIM market, the conferences, and all the other events
(except closed-door events and by invitation only).
The Winner is responsible for accommodation, flights,
transportation and other costs of attending and participating
in all aspects of the event (food for instance).
The Winner will benefit of the following visibility before,
during and after MIPIM 2015:
- MIPIM website
- MIPIM newsletter
- Mipimblog
- MIPIM Twitter account
- MIPIM Facebook fan page (more than 21,000 fans)
- MIPIM Official Conference programme
Moreover, the Winner is authorised to mention his “MIPIM
Open stage” competition 2015 recognition in his promotional
activities.
ITEM 5: APPLICANT/WINNER AUTHORIZATIONS
It is recalled that MIPIM 2015 is a communication and
promotion forum for the Property Market professionals, the
Winner hereby authorises Reed MIDEM and their
representatives (and guarantees that it has been authorised
to that end by possible co-authors or third parties) to record
directly or indirectly the public session with the
presentation. For the same purposes, the Winner also
authorises Reed MIDEM to reproduce and communicate the
same to the public by any means, and on all media for the
purposes of communicating on MIPIM 2015 and/or the
“MIPIM Open stage” competition pitch platform, especially
on the www.mipim.com website.
The Applicant/ Winner authorises Reed MIDEM to use his
name and likeness during the “MIPIM” competition.
To the same end, the Applicant/Winner also guarantees that
Reed MIDEM is authorised to use freely any of the logos,
trademarks, title, extracts, data and information and other
intangible rights and promotional items related to the
Session proposal submitted to the competition and/or
videos.
Information, including photographs, that is requested from
the Applicant/Winner is essential for entering into this
competition and for access to the events. This material will
be forwarded to third parties, including those companies of
the Reed Elsevier group with whom Reed MIDEM has
contracted for the purposes of implementing the competition
and may be used, in this regard, on any media for
dissemination relating to the event in question, including on
the Internet, unless, in this latter case, there is an objection
from the Applicant/Winner concerning photographs or
videos. Through Reed MIDEM, and except where there is an
objection by the Applicant/Winner, the latter may receive
commercial offers or proposals from Reed MIDEM and from
other companies that are contractually linked to Reed
MIDEM.
Pursuant to the Loi Informatique et Libertés du 6 janvier
1978 [French Law on Information Technology and Civil
Liberties of 6 January 1978], the Applicant/Winner may
exercise, on application to the manager of the MIPIM Open
stage competition, a right of access, of rectification and of
opposition or objection as regards the personal information
concerning him/her/it that is present on Reed MIDEM’s
website and database(s) and/or on UserVoice’s platform.
Any prospecting for purposes
mentioned is prohibited.

Reed MIDEM reserves the right to have any disturbances
caused by any here-mentioned prohibited use terminated by
any means, including the disconnection of the Applicant
from the competition. This is without prejudice to any legal
action that Reed MIDEM may take in order to exercise its
rights and of any damages to which Reed MIDEM may be
entitled as a result of such non-respect of the present
provisions.
The Session proposals’ aim is to submit to Reed MIDEM a
new range of ideas, for present and/or future MIPIM
conferences. In this context, the idea (hereinafter referred
as the “Idea”) is defined by the key elements of the Session
proposal (the title and the description) submitted by the
Applicant. Even if the Idea does not become the most voted
one, it will integrate MIPIM’s suggestions box. In this
respect, Reed MIDEM may use the Idea in the frame of a
next session of MIPIM conferences, subject to the
agreement of the Applicant.
ITEM 6: CLAIMS
Registering and competing for the “MIPIM Open stage”
competition 2015 implies full acceptance of the present
Terms and Conditions.
These Terms and Conditions are governed and shall be
construed in accordance with the French law.
No claims related to the selection of a Winner or any other
aspects of the competition, will be accepted. The Director of
MIPIM 2015 has the power to settle all cases not covered by
the present Terms. Everyone may have access to the data
posted online in the frame of the competition. Reed MIDEM
cannot be held liable for the use that could be made of
these data by third parties.
ITEM 7: MISCELLANEOUS
In the event of circumstances independent of Reed MIDEM's
will and resulting in the impossibility of organising the MIPIM
2015, the “MIPIM Open stage” competition 2015 shall be
cancelled without any indemnification whatsoever.
