UQ-OCHSNER SEED FUND FOR COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH 2015 CONDITIONS OF AWARD UQ-OCHSNER SEED FUND FOR COLLABORATIVE RESEARCH 2015 CONDITIONS OF AWARD & ADMINISTRATIVE ARRANGEMENTS GENERAL CONDITIONS Variations to the project, from that outlined in the approved proposal, must be approved in writing by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) or delegate via UQ Research & Innovation (UQR&I). Variation requests should be welljustified, and endorsed by the Head of the Administering School/Institute. Consistent with the requirements and obligations as a UQ Academic Title holder as defined by the UQ Policy on Academic Titles for Health Professionals (PPL5.20.05) and as a UQ staff member, all publications arising from this or any other projects using any UQ resources must include UQ within the by-line. Ethical and Biosafety Clearances It is the responsibility of the Chief Investigator to comply with the University's ethical and biosafety clearance requirements. Grant funds will not be released for successful applications until all required clearances are obtained. The funds can be used to pay any category of approved research expenditure: personnel, maintenance, minor equipment (see exclusions in the Guidelines), economy travel and publication costs. Funds may be used for overseas travel to carry out fieldwork or research essential to the project. All expenditure must be in accordance with the project budget. Funds may not be used for items prohibited in the Guidelines, including: items of equipment over $5,000; salaries of Academic Title Holders or academic research staff; entertainment expenses; hosting of seminars or workshops; abstracting services; fees of overseas students; student support; teaching relief; conference travel and registrations; or supplementation of projects being funded by other agencies. Duration of Support and Extension The grant is for up to 12 months duration and it is expected that grant funds will be spent within that period. Extension of the project beyond this time is only permitted in exceptional circumstances, and subject to approval by the Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research) or delegate. RELINQUISHMENT/TERMINATION When a Chief Investigator withdraws from the project, because of resignation or other reasons, the Head/Director of the School/Centre/Institute concerned should inform UQ Research and Innovation. Successful applicants may not continue to hold UQ-Ochsner Seed Funding for Collaborative Research if they resign from their UQ appointment or if this appointment is discontinued for any reason. Reporting Following expenditure of all funds, the recipient is required to submit a final report on the outcomes of the project. Reports must be provided within six months of the end date of the grant and must include: - a statement on the extent to which the project achieved its objectives; - details of any applications for external funding that have arisen from the seed funding; and - a list of any publications or other outputs, in print or in preparation, arising from the project. The report must be submitted to the relevant Head/Director of School/Centre/Institute in the first instance, for onward transmission to UQ Research & Innovation.
